Excellent. Without black people, USA Music would not even exist today as we know it... They owe ALL to African-American in terms of music. Blues, Jazz, Funk, Soul, Disco, R&B, even the roots of rock... White british yanks and irish colons had zero ideas to make music, they were stupid. Sorry, Charles Smith. Oops. Also, FYI, if you like this tune, my favorite all time of theirs is the title track from Wild and Peaceful called Wild and Peaceful. Someone uploaded it to Yahoo recently, so you can search for it pretty easy. It's as smooth and soothing as this, if not more so, with a set of killer solos from the Gang.

This has always been a great track for them. I can't check my CDs at the moment, but I'm pretty sure that the guitarist, Charles Lloyd who passed away this year, was the primary songwriter for the toon. FYI, there's a companion track on the album which is sort of part of the same track called "You Don't Have to Change for Me."

Kool and the Gang's greatness lies in their simplicity. When I watch them, it's like watching a group of guys playing music for the sake of music. You just don't see that anymore. I only wish I could have enjoyed this live!

I get so emotional when I hear this song. It is so incredible to hear on a weekly basis. It brings back great memories as the title theme song for the old "Ironside" TV series with the late Raymond Burr back in the late 60s. Man, this incredible live rendition I never get tired of. I can listen to it all day and still feel a sense of peace and joy. So smooth & pleasurable it takes me away on a musical adventure. Amazing jazz "Funk" brothers !!
