This isn't Glenn Miller. It's from the sound track of the 1953 movie'Glenn Miller Story' featuring the Universal International Studio band. Note the slight dip in the sound @ 1'20when the picture cuts to June Alyson walking in the 'lot' towards the sound stage and stops outside when she sees the red light. Trombonist Paul Tanner who played in Miller's civilian band, actually appeared in the picture as a member of the Band.

I agree- absolutely brilliant! But some quirk (maybe the fact that I love this song) leads me to point out that the song was written by Erskine Hawkins, not Glenn Miller. With lyrics by Buddy Feyne, written later at the behest of the publisher. Credit where due, doncha know?

My sister had this on a 45rpm record way back in the early 1950s. I was five or six and sneaked into her collection and played this song over and over. My first exposure to the world of music. Now 61, and an avid classical music collector, I still pull this recording up and listen with pure joy. Those days are gone, but the music will always be with us. THanks for posting.

This song has been my favorite, ever since we lived in Wiesbaden, Germany in the early 60s (my father was stationed there), and they always played this at the Taunus Theatre (the American movie theatre) while we were waiting for the feature to start. The song was popular before I was even born (which is saying something!), but I love it as much as my favorites from the 50's, 60's 70's, 80's, 90's and today!! Another great one is "I Can't Get Started" by Bunny Berigan from that era.

Remember 10/3/51, and Ralph Branca and Bobby Thomson, and the "shot heard round the world" I was one of the few Giant fans living in Brooklyn back then, and that was one of the few days we could celebrate. BTW, I loved going to Ebbets Field.

you guys must realise this is a reconstruction from the 60's. quarts was found in excavations around the barrow and was first believe to be from a facade and was reconstructed appropriately but recently a large amount of evidence has come out indicatin that the quarts found was in fact a path at the front of the barrow. anyway the facade reconstructed now needed to be bound with modern concrete leaving it impossible for neolithic man to have created something like this.

you guys do realise that the barrow was reconstrusted in the 60's and they completely cocked it up. the grand quarts facade on the entrace was the result of quarts being found during excavation and it was believed that it must have been a grand entrance but after its reconstruction it was discovered that th quarts was in fact a path around the outside and not a facade.modern concrete was needed to create the facade and it neolithic times it would have been impossible to create this facade.

I always get the feeling that they should have tapered to a point with the white quartz on top, in much the same way people speculate the pyramids were capped in gold. Either that or the quartz was a paving outside, either way I can't help but feel they made a mess of the reconstruction.

I live 15 miles away from it, my wife and her sister as children used to play in it, and in Knoth. They would climb in the tombs as their grand parents lived beside them. Its a fantastic place, I love bringing my young children to it. This may sound strange, but it really does recharge my batteries.

During excavations in 1963 quartz stone was found on the ground just in front of the kerbstones on the outside of the tomb. Judging from the distance and formation in relation to the tomb it was decided that they were once on the outside walls of the tomb. I 'm not sure however about the stones significence.

Newgrange for me is better than stone henge. Stone henge may not be like it was when it was built and used all those years ago. Some say that they moved the stones since so its lost its power(what ever power that is). I know this is weird but when i look at newgrange, i see the shape of what we call a ufo, and the symbols look like they have something to do with energies. Strange i know, but i cannot really put it into words, how it makes me feel. But do you guys see that shape there too.

It's incredible to think that this place was built over 5,000 years ago, and yet we know practically nothing about the people who built it. They obviously understood mathematics, geometry, the seasons and the planets. They had religion of some sort and then they disappeared. In a sense I hope it remains a mystery.
