One thing you'll notice in this song is how the band plays as an ensemble. Try to isolate on the guitar for instance, he's actually doing some nice work, as well as the drumming here (fantastic) How many bands have this much restraint? It's a group of musicians playing "for" the song. I always feel humbled as a musician after hearing something of this calibre.

Agree 100% Kiri...the most underrated band of the late 60's and 70's...almost every song they did was a "work of poetry"...(ie. "whiter shade of pale")...one of my top 5 albums of all time is Procol with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra....if you've never heard it FIND IT!!...it's awesome...beautiful...and a work of poetry... :-)

You may think this is a boring performance, but with over 2 million views, someone's got to be lovin it. I don't think you understand her genius, just listen to her when she says "for me there is no one, no one but you" the conviction, look at her eyes, she means it. Just saw her show in LA 11/21/08 and she toe up. She sang a VERY moving The Lord Will Make A Way Somehow for Natalie Cole, who stood up throughout the whole long song, waving to Re and GOD. Re's BALLADs were to die for. I can't wait for the Woman Falling Out of Love to be released.

I think main thing bout YT is that people can discover music that they would never have found, no matter who is singing, if it keeps the older songs alive for new people to hear thats the best. For me Cohen singing this, and Suzanne, was amazing to others, not so others, new singers and bands cover them ONLY because they were brilliant to begin with. Gratz to all who have found Cohen,Cale,Velvet and Lou but we found them first time round , hope you enjoy all of it cos its superb music!

This is much more an intricate song than the piano (excellently played) belies. It is both a rejection of Christianity, but the acceptance of Christianity s a trial he must endure if he simply can have someone in his arms again. I think the song is pretty, but overly indulgent in his dislike for Christianity. He'd be better off offering a better sacrifice. It's Cohen song pandering to the atheists and wiccans. Which is fine, but let's not call it beautiful, because it has hate it it.
