I agree, the whole song is genius, which includes Lennon's simple rhytmn guitar and powerful lyrics, as well as his beautiful but haunting vocal. It gives you chills. McCartney's middle bridge, his "I'd love to turn you on" line" that he wrote for John to sing, which Lennon loved(as well as his idea for the orchestral crescendo) complements John's part perfectly; "A Day In The Life" wouldn't be the masterpiece that it is without it. I think also that Ringo does his best drumming on this song.
