You know nothing. First, i don't play violin i play guitar piano and viola. Second, i can say that when playing music in a competition, the music should become so natural that there isn't much effort involved. Practicing weeks, months, over and over again, they should at least feel comfortable playing the music.

First, she does show emotion Second, if shes not showing enough emotion for you, it's because to be so good at such a young age you need extreme discipline and a part of that discipline to Asian cultures (I'm azn) is often times not showing emotions So for her to be showing as much as she is in front of such a huge crowd while concentrating on such difficult music in the middle of a competition is already amazing So shut up.you know nothing. A wonderful movie except for political correctness, with the excellent samuel jackson cast as the world's greatest violin expert: it says "affirmative action" loud and clears. It's a fantasy piece, anyway.

mmmm, I do not know that it is all symetrical. I know on guitar, the nut (don't know if it's the same on violin but the part where the strings are open before the pegs) is also different sizes to accomodate the size difference in the strings. This is very apparent on a bass (me and my dad, mainly him hehe, put one together and i almost glued the nut on the wrong way hehe). So yaz.

The majority of artists only compose their own if the conductor has not already written a cadenza for the concerto...Bell on the other hand, loves to take artistic liberties in all of his interpretation...he is in the minority It's just like saying someone should write their own cadenza for the Sibelius Violin Concerto or the Shostakovich violin concerto...it doesn't work. The composer wrote the cadenza for a specific reason...to fit the larger context of the music as a whole

yea alot of people in music actually claim perfect pitch but they are almost ALAWYS exaggerating..VERY few actually have true perfect pitch. I know someone that has one note memorized and through that can solfeg out to any other note, he thinks that he has perfect pitch but it's not. In fact true perfect pitch is quite detrimental toa musician or especially composer as it hinders the much more essential ability of relative pitch.

When people dance around on stage, they give the impression they are producing something they are not. Actually if you just listen and don't watch you realise how boring it is is. Vengerov is the prime example of this... On the other hand Heifetz used to be critisized for not moving and people say he is cold... I agree with OriginalMoonbeam, I´m a musician, and such involuntary movements such as dancing or facial expressions become reflexes, and therefore part of the music and the performance. People should be concerned with appreciating the music, and not on how much performers move on stage. Mozart was know to make quite a spectacle on stage anyways. P.S. She´s cute in any case

You are making the mistake of expecting her physical gestures, expressions etc to mirror the wonderful music she is making. She has a formidable Zen-like composure which is allowing the real fire of the music to come through, there is so much maturity here and absolutely nothing superfluous in her playing. I do not mean to deflate what is obviously a compliment, but babies are born not even able to uphold their own heads...the fact is, it takes roughly 10,000 hours of work to become an expert at something (I am sure Ms. Suwanai has put that in, and then some). The only thing the performance leaves to be desired, in my opinion, is a more steady tempo in the fast parts.
