I heard this song the other day and couldn't help but think of my father who died recently. He was such a sensitive man, but hid behind talk of military strength and Conservative "Values." He drank himself to death at 70, and this song detailing one tortured man's perspective makes his release of this world more clear. Sad, but I kinda understand more.

Now... yes, the films that you've mentioned are remakes and adaptations, but he did other films by his own ideas. For example now he works on the stop-motion version of Frankenweenie. You said that Terry Gilliam is a true genious (I agree with it), but he also did many adaptations. So why is it problem if Burton does adaptations?

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is not remake; it's the adaptation of the book. There was an other adaptation - Willy Wonka and the C. F. ... - but Burton's film has nothing to do with that. Sweeney Todd is the film adaptation of the musical, so it is -also- not a remake.

Look at his films, he's not had a decent one for years. Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Planet Of The Apes, Sweeney Todd, Alice In Wonderland, all remakes, nothing original and always using the same actors. Batman was of course awesome but that was 20 years ago; now he's become boring and predictable. If it's a true genius you want with an actual imagination pick Terry Gilliam.

jarrie1235... thats not van gogh's life. he led a very hard life, and he did marry a prostitute, but he left her. he was mentally ill, he had epilepsy so he went into an epileptic fit later in life he cut off his ear, giving it to his favorite prostitute at the time. he had trouble with love, he loved his paintings but they didnt love him back. he went to two mental institutions, and at the second one he had another fit and went into a depressive state and shot himself, he died two days later.

you know emo is too vague to be anything. I wouldn't use that word to describe this, because in my opinion there is a BIG difference. emo is very intense, and someone who calls themselves "emo" loves to express themselves and loves very deeply. I never knew what an incredible guitarist Chet Atkins was until my mom "dragged" me to a concert he was playing in Tyler, Texas in the early 90s-I didn't want to go because I thought it would be "country" & I don't care for country music. But I was COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY by his guitar playing and became an instant fan! He played a breathtaking arrangement of John Lennon's "Imagine" that night that was absolutely beautiful.
