Actually the original Japanese cast recording was released in/around 1988. There was the 2003 Shiki Theater cast which made a recording as well. My understanding is that after the revival came, it hasn't stopped playing. *shrugs* I own both cd's.

the original musical was written for rum tum tugger to introduce Misto to the jellicles, then for misto to take over his own song. rum tum tugger i believe joins in again toward the end. However, in the video Misto doens't sing as much because John was the stronger singer and Jacob, well... wasn't that experienced with singing and the choreography was difficult...

I own the VHS of the London production of Cats which starred Elaine Page whose role of Grizabella is amazing.I'm going to get the DVD also.It's wonderful that high class productions like this and Riverdance are on tape to enjoy endlessly.More shows should be.Maybe the fantastic Lion King will one day.

"pu-raei boi neko"? Yeah, that pretty much sums up Tugger. That was great! Mistoffelees' ((really slow)) conjuring turn? Was it just me, or did he turn Tugger's tail into a cane? And since when did Munkustrap join in on his song? Not that I'm complaining, I'm a Munku fan, myself, but that was just too awesome. I SO wish I could see it live.

They pretty much took all the moves from the movie. I LOVE the movie, and for some reason, it only looks really perfect when the movie cast does it. Dunno. Just whenever someone else (especially professional groups) does the exact same moves...nah. good performance though...i just like John Partridge as Tugger a little better *shrug*

Hij danst hem even goed als toen, maar zijn stem is verandert. De Rum-Tum-Tugger (vind de nederlandse vertaling trouwens belachelijk...) is een jonge vrouwenheld. De jonge Stanley kon dat wel, maar nu... dit is qua stem een oude geile bok.... en dat geronk dat in 'belle en het beest' erg indrukwekkend is... dat is hier volledig misplaats. This isn't a horrible production. Costume design isn't bad. Even though this isn't profesionally done, doesn't mean it isn't good in its own way. There could have been a low budget, and they had to imrpovise with some things. I think it was done ok. Anyone who thinks this production sucks, I'd like to see you get am orchestra together a cast and preform your own play of CATS and see how many crap comments you get.

Was that Rumpus Cat who ran in there randomly?! O_O That Tugger oozes charisma. The rest of the cast is great too, especially with my having seen some really vomit-inducing performances...*ahem* But that is besides the point. I just wish the orchestra was up to par with the cast :(

This show was a lot of fun to put on, what with the dancing and singing. The community enjoyed it very much. We sold out every show and had to put on an extra night to let in some of the people who were in line for a lost seat or so on. I guess this was an off night? We all know that in any show there can be improvement but come on...it wasn't that bad.
