I was in Memphis last week, and was able to tour Stax Records (along with Graceland and Sun Studio). I swear, it was like a spiritual event. I had a lump in my throat the whole time. Visit Stax for the tour and see/touch some of the instruments used in these recording sessions, actual tape masters, and the history of soul music. And make sure to pick up some music at Satelite Records next door - great prices and rare albums!

I love the Memphis sound, Stax, Volt and of course Sun Records. It is a crying shame the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is not located there. Having it located in Cleveland makes as much sense as if the Baseball Hall of Fame were to be located in Bosnia and Herzegovina! It is a crime against music.
