This scene is funny when you separate it from the rest of the movie....but the shinning is a pretty scary movie....well, last time I watched it, was 5 years ago?? When I was 12 or smth...so that probably has smth to do with it..but one think I know, everytime I'm alone in a hotel hallway since...I still get shivers..lol (and an other horror movie wouldn't do that to me...at least in such a long term..)..I should consider watching it again I guess..

No, he was sort of giving her a warning. I don't know if you know the story or not but his dad goes crazy and is trying to kill them. So he's pretty much just warning his mom that his crazy dad is about to murder them both. He's not a crazy kid or anything (although he does have powers...) Hope I helped.
