I was cabin crew on a BM flight London to Edinburgh back in 1998. I spilled a dish of sweets in the aisle, one of the passangers jumped down and started helping me scoop up the sweets, It was only when he laughed, I recognised him; Harry Secombe! What a lovely man! I met many famous people, but none with chrisma to match his, so joyus, humble, and alive! I can only believe he was like this to his last moment, Rising above his illness! The World Could Do With More Sir Harry Secombe's!

When I first heard him sing, all those years ago, I was gobsmacked. The guy was a comedian, and here he had this beautiful rich voice. It was always a pleasure to watch him and enjoy his voice. In my opinion, by 1967, the public taste in music in North America was just starting to go downhill. This may be why Americans did not recognize the incredible singing talent that Harry Secombe possessed. This is my favourite version of this song.

it is a true shame that there aren't much of Sir. Harry Secombe's songs on YouTube. A NOTE TO ALL OF YOU WHO WATCH THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD HIM SING THE HOLY CITY...TRY AND GET YOUR HANDS ON IT..IT IS A TRUE MASTERPIECE!!! One of the most beautiful recordings ever made, in my opinion. This is my favourite version of this incredible song. Charted at #2 on UK Singles chart. Written by Charles Chaplin. This song had just been a hit for Petula Clark, when Harry made it into a hit again, which is a testament to the beauty of Harry's voice and this song.
