I've had crps, or rsd since april. i was lucky enough to have doctors find out what it was. i had a referal to sick kids in june and they confermed it. it really hasn't been easy on me. also it's all up to me to go through this inttense workout on my own. since i live in ontario, and we just can't get to philidalphia. what you did was really amazing! congragulations!

Good Luck, Stay Positive. We saw Dr. Sherry, but did all of the physical therapy with a therapist 3 times a week and many hours each day on our own. She's 10 and just finished 5th grade. It was hard, but she did it, and she's better!

I've done the rigourous physical therapy and all that. Not sure if I've ever gotten to do the kind of program this was for you, but despite what doctors tell me, it doesn't go away, it doesn't get better. If anything it seems like over the years, it just gets worse. I want to believe that someday I will be able to feel better, but I've kind of given up hope.

Every word you says peirces my heart...because it's so much like mine. I got RSD when I was nine...didn't get diagnosed until I was eleven. I looked up RSD just now because I just needed to remind myself I'm not alone. I'm seventeen. Right now I'm feeling pretty bad, because my pain is really bad right now. Thanks for making this video. I have had CRPS (originally type 2) since May 2002. It has now spread to all limbs (yippeeee!) and maybe part of my face. You're a brave person -- and... thanks again. I also have rsd in both feet and ankles. People look at you with a wary eye when you tell them whats going on. If only they could walk for one day in our shoes. I'm going to try spinal cord stimulation, it sounds like the last resort. Does anyone know anything about this? I was diagnosed with a mild case of RSD about 4 weeks ago. After a week of intensive phisiopherapy i regained almost complete movement in my foot and am now pain free. Phisiopherapy is a blessing and it really helped my case. So although it didnt work for this beautiful young woman I encourage anyone newly diagnosed with RSD to seek intensive phisiopherapy (every day) and early.

I've had RSD for almost my entire life...it started about 15 years ago. (I'm 17) and the pain was on and off until I was about 10, when the pain became worse to the point where I had trouble walking.I now go between walking,crutches,a cane and a wheelchair.Surprisingly I was only diagnosed in feb.2008. Hello....Thanks for the reply....sadly my wife passed away several days ago, peacefully in her sleep aged 37. Note she did not take her own life but was worn down by the effects of rsd and the medication that she silently slipped away without me knowing. It is pleasing to know that she is no longer in any pain and suffers no more. I thank you for taking the time to respond to her plea. There is a wonderful and very kind CRPS doctor at Robina Hospital on the Gold Coast QLD - Dr Anthony Espinet. If you could travel to see him it would be well worth it, he does all the injections/ketamine treatments etc. I hope this helps you, God bless.

I'm 27 years old I have had CRPS type 2 for a year and a half. I have it in my left foot but it is slowly spreading through my my leg and into my other leg. I know it is hard to pursue any socail life because of either mobility or depression, so what I do is organize events at my home so I don't have to leave and that way I feel more comfortable.I hope this tip will help someone. my daughter had 5 episodes of RSD One thing that MAY have helped, was the active ingredient in the cough medicine Delsym, which has been shown to reduce pain "ramp up". BUT I believe she may now have gastritis as a result of the constant Aleve & Advil she took. Always be very careful to take these medications with a full glass of water. and best wished to everyone with this horrible condition, including their caregivers.

I have it from a skating accident when I was nine years old. I've had it for about nine years now. Doctors told me, do physical therapy and you'll be fine. Yeah right, no one ever told me I'd have RSD for the rest of my life most likely. It's in both legs. I can understand how one could think of my story as a fraud or look upon it with doubt. There was no bigger sceptic than myself in 2005 until I used these products and got results. program and was pretty much rid with it, with the exception of my hands, which has never gotten better. Of course, I got really sick in January of this year and then the pain returned, and my asthma and other breathing problems have been acting up, so now the pain has returned. They think I'll have to return to the Occupational Therepy, Physical Therepy and Aqua therepy again, but we don't know. Hi! I just wanted to thank you for posting this video up here. I have RND- total body RND of course- and am fighting it once again. I got it when I was around 11 and wasn't diagnosed until I was 12, but for months I had doctors looking at me and telling me I was crazy, and many told me that they didn't know what was wrong with me, but there was something terribly wrong with me. Finally they sent me to childrens in Seattle and we got it figure out. I went through the 5 hours a day 5 days a week

Hey I do that to. When the pain is there...my legs just shake back and forth, I don't know why. I don't even always notice it either. My friends will tell me I'm twitching and I'll look down and sure enough I am. I guess it's just the only thing I can do to tolerate it.

it's hard being a teenager and having RSD. 7+ years. I know that it's hard for anyone, but I just want to be normal again. It's so hard to enjoy life, and go to school, and wear clothes and not feel like an outcast. My friends and I actually joke about my purple legs. But they also say I'm a trooper so I guess it's okay. If I could get more treatment, I could probably improve, but insurance wont cover me so currently I'm suffering with very little treatment.

I have RSD myself I can't take 99% of the meds that the docs have tried to put me on for I am highly alergic. So I know you pain. My right leg is in constant pain and I am stuck to a wheelchair to go anything over 20 or so feet. I hope that you can get rid of your pain for I know what you are going though. Yes remission is possible when treated early on. 50% of people do go into remission from the correct treatment and a small few develop intractable pain that may spread throughout the whole body. Some people remain like this permanently, no matter what treatment.

I just wanted to tell you not to believe everything people online tell you..some people had me believing I woud never get better. My heart goes out to you...I am in remission but went through a solid year of unbelievable pain.{ Before diagnosis} Blocks and tons of meds...Physical therapy..Dont give up, I still have pain but nothing like it was..I have been free of that horrible pain for at least 7 years now..but I will never forget. I just wanted to say"DONT GIVE UP!" It really can get better.

Agreed. I have RSD and it's absolutely horrid...however, as hard as it sounds, it IS best to not depend on medicine like that. I don't take any medication for my RSD. Prayer, mental power, and walking aids get me from day to day :)

I saw this video, and I am a 20 plus yr RSD sufferer in my leg and arm. What Elizabeth is going through is real, debilitating, and horrific. She is a source of strength and courage for many of us and I hope and pray she finds help and treatment. RSD is the most painful disease and it steals your life...if you let it. I was diagnosed back in 2000. I have been through the gammet of drugs. I am allergic to many so no luck there. I finally have found a little relief with percocet, oxycontin and topomax. I aslo use Flector patches. I have to take care of my parents, so I have to force myself to get up everyday. I thank the Lord for my husband because I would not get through this without him. I cry myself to sleep on a regular basis. When I can fall asleep its only for a couple of hours.

I have RSD - many complications like bent tail-bone and vascular problems from past DVT. Also afflicted with severe arthritis, much of it from not being able to lean on my left side. When I could get to sleep it made a big difference but that was difficult. The Right formula for me was Neurontin 300 mg Norvasc 2.5mg, Lorazapam 1 mg, Ambien 10 mg. Now I sleep much better and can bath and dress myself in the morning. But it doesn't last long. Fentanyl PoPs help me travel and deal with social.

Thank you Elizabeth. Great job and an important subject. I would like to hear more about how people suffer socially with this disease. I have it but those close to me suffer just for caring for me. How do I say anything that would make them sound less than angelic? There are still far too many people, including doctors, who try to make it a disease of character. Too bad people are so obsessively concerned with the drugs you take and not your pain. Damn weird.

What kind of meds would your recommend. I have problems with of course RSD, constipation, bladder pain, naseau. I couldn't take the neurontin because I had an allergic reaction to it. What about braces? I need them, but I haven't found one that doesn't hurt me more to wear.

Elizabeth shouldn't be taking all those pain medications. Most of them can do alot of harm to the liver and sometimes even make septoms worse. There is a great doctor (Dr. Rhodes) in corpus christie that I believe can really help her. He deals with RSD and has cured many people. My brother being one. Elizabeth really needs help or this diese may kill her and for RSD pain medications are NOT the way to go. I strongly suggest that Elizabeth goes to see Dr. Rhodes in Corpus Christie.

It is a very realistic video on a medium day for most of us with RSD. This is not even a "bad" day. If it was, you wouldn't have been able to film it. It must be hard for untouched people to imagine the depths of our suffering. Yet, we deal with it 24 hours a day. Because we usually only get catnaps. No thing such as a full nights sleep either. Even sleep would be a blessing. Keep these type of videos coming. Maybe someone will do more to help us find a cure or treatment that works.

All those meds, all those side effects, all that money...have you tried ten dollars worth of cannabis? Marijuana? Many patients have have very good results from a natural, non-toxic plant. I use it daily, I have MS and never take pain pills now. Synthetic heroins and the like tear you up after a while. This was a hard video to watch. We all have to decide what we're comfortable using though as far as medication and side effects.

its always good to hear what treatments everyone is trying. altho, most are known and most RSD patients have already tried... my RSD was diagnosed 5 years ago now when i was 25. the medications which work extremely well for me are: Methadone, Fentora/Actiq (pill disolves in mouth - fentanyl based), Duragesic, neurontin/effexor Some attention has been brough to "HyperBaric Oxygen Therapy" i'm now looking into Deep Brain Stimulation and/or Spinal Cord Stimulator and/or Morphine Pump

If Neurontin doesn't work for you, you should try Lyrica because it is similar but my fiance says it works better. Some doctors prescribe Cymbalta for pain relief, and it is also a great anti-depressant, so you are killing 2 birds with one stone.

The 2 most effective pain medications my fiance has found is Methadone and Fentanyl Patches. He also takes Ambien CR, Xanax, and Valium to help him get some sleep and it also helps with his anxiety and depression. I'm sure most of you have probably tried sympathetic nerve blocks without much success. I actually read that they only work in 5% of CRPS sufferers because most of a CRPS patient's problems are in the Peripheral Nervous System, not the Sympathetic Nervous System.

Another treatment I just learned about through youtube is a girl who traveled to Germany and was put into a medically induced coma using a cocktail of medications. She had to travel to Germany because this treatment is not performed in the US because it is not approved by the FDA. Since the coma, she is now back to her normal life and has very little pain.

Out of all these, the Fentanyl and Ketamine seemed to work the best.
