Zion & Tra La La Band. Red Sparowes, Surface of Ece(y)on, We vs. Death, ...As the Poets Affirm might also do the trick. And there's always Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky and God is an Astronaut if the rest is too much to handle. Post rock is very much the avant garde rock movement of our time.

this is my first time listening to 65daysofstatic, and i don't sense emo in this at all. and yeah, emo bands never can get across what they attempt to get across. the lyrics from emo bands suck anyways. it always seems too sympathetic and overly exaggerated. and they use cliches like crazy. this band however has a very nice sound. i like the experimentation in the music. it adds to the uniqueness.

Well, the tune has been accredited to Kentucky fiddler William Stepp. He played it as a fast tune and that'ds what Copeland's Hoedown is based on. Some say he [Stepp] based it on Irish tune The Eagle's Charge; I don't think they're all that similar. Copland's Hoedown was based on a version of Bonaparte's Retreat by Kentucky fiddler W. Steppe. Steppe's version was recorded by John Lomax and transcribed by Ruth Seeger. It is in one of the Lomax books, and is also available in the Library of Congress. Copland's version is almost identical to Steppe's. Lots of instances in old time music of same name / different tune, and different name / same tune.

Where did you get this info? I talked to a former arvn jet pilot who told me that after the americans pulled out, they put smaller fuel tanks on the jets they left for ARVN so they didnt have the range to go past DMZ.

I agree with you about ARVN. Those guys were tough. No helicopters for them. They walked. They drank paddy water and got little food. The Americans could leave when the going got tough, but ARVN fought till the end against enormous odds. I wish it could have ended differently. South Vietnam would have been better off had the americans never gotten involved. The US's biggest, stupidest mistake was to kill Diem.

The US pretty much sacraficed South Vietnam once they found a better deal in China. I think it was right to normalize relations with china, but we never should have dumped vietnam. Vietnam was ouir responsibility. We destabilized the government by killing Diem, so we should have stayed for the duration, like we did in Korea. sorry I was wrong. They said they were closing in on Hue. So this is probably 1973-74. Hue is in the middle of Vietnam, near the DMZ. The communists just began fighting again after signing a peace treaty in Paris, and they are moving across the DMZ.
