Miren hijos de su madre, para mi no hay como Vicente Fernandez para la cantada. Tambien me gusta el estilo de Antonio Aguilar. Son muy diferentes. Los dos tienen sus propios estilos. listen to a lot of cuban rumba albums and you'll get some idea. there are lot's of levels there. also it's good to see video of rumba (if the audio is in-sync which is somewhat rare on youtube) start with Los Muñequitos de Matanzas. Dafnis was brought up on the stuff in the streets of Santa Clara, Cuba. Watch the bio of him on vic firth.

Much of his music seems to be written for the sake of showing how many meters can blend together. It doesn't feel natural, it sounds like an exercise. The level of ability is extremely high, I just don't feel it. And music to me is about emotions.. This is not musical, it's technical. Also his phrasing is all over the place. I much prefer Tain Watts, Antonio Sanchez, Steve Hass, Bill Stewart, and for real afro cuban drumming, Horacio Hernandez. Give me soul over complexity anyday.

Have yoou seen the full length? the film increases its pace bit by bit to a frantic sequence in the end. There is not dialogue and only one character, and it is the editing, the sound design, the music and the character development what holds it together. In my opinion that is certainly something very difficult to achieve.

True, it did not win an award; it won two. In fact, the film went to 25 international short film festivals, was exhibited in 10 different countries and shown at the Universal studios in the states. Taste is subjective, of course, but comments upon quality or failure deserve, at least, the construction of a solid argument,rather than, simply, trashing the film. It would be good to evaluate your knowledge and your opinion will serve better to the other users of this site. Thanks
