You may have to actually BE a musician to truly appreciate his greatness. I'm a drummer and I know plenty of guitar players that are blown away by his technique and innovation. And Vinnie is astounding. The beauty of Colaiuta's playing is being simple when simple is required. This particular song needs a nice blues shuffle and then he goes off when it's time to go off. It's called having ears to hear what's going on and playing what works BEST TO COMPLIMENT THE MUSIC.

Not really shell shocked...he went on trial for having admitted to marijuana possession and was jailed for 1 year, then was discharged. One of the greatest pre-ww2 tenor sax players (Coleman Hawkins would be the other). He became an alcoholic and died in 1958, just few weeks before his longtime friend Billy - Lady Day - Holliday. My top priority on my farm is caring for my pigs. My family & I are with the pigs 365 days a year, even on Christmas Day. I keep my pigs close to their mother so the mother can nurture her young. They look far apart because his Fodera has 19mm spacing at the bridge which is basically the same as his Fender. I used to have basses with narrow spacing but nowadays, the wider the better. I've got a Fodera 6 with 19mm spacing and although it felt sort of wide at first, it quickly became ideal for me and I now wouldn't trade it for the world.
