If we want to compare the suffering between Trudeau invoking the War Measure's Act during the October Crisis with Bush after 9/11, one could argue that Bush went further. Trudeau invoked the Act to catch kidnappers and rescue hostages (mildly successfully) and then ended it after months. Bush used 9/11 to justify two wars, the Patriot Act (revoking many civil liberties), Secret prisons + justify torture. This has been going on for years. Trudeau did some good too; but the WMA was excessive.

Don't compare the short-term, emergency invoking of the War Measures Act with sustained authoritarian regimes like Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot (among others..Mussolini/Mao over Trudeau?). The regimes of these men brutally murdered millions of people; Trudeau had some pot heads arrested and interrogated (I realize that this is an understatement). Don't get me wrong, I loath Bush. He was a horrible president, and the primary cause of the recession. There aren't very many people I wouldn't choose over Bush. Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, and Trudeau are the only exceptions to that rule that I can think of. I do not like the idea of living in a police state, but according to Trudeau here, I guess that makes me a bleeding heart. very lovely video. however, i prefer the real pierre henry works like orphee, the corticolart works, but also the bible parts. he did the four evngelists and of course the apocalypse de jean. his collaborations with others do sound a bit different than his solo works. listen to urban sax, spooky tooth or darius milhaud. perhaps the best introduction are the pieces with the founder of the musique concret pierre schaeffer. i also like the works by parmegiani, ferrari, philipot, mache and so on.

I'm not particularly fond of The Rite of Spring. It's okay. Ravel and Debussey, on the other hand, had some nice stuff, but their exposure to modal music just happened to be via the circus stuff. I find the personal interest in primitive cultures to be a retrogressive sentiment. Surely there's something to any component in history, but there is little utility in those cultures, or even culture at all. I don't 'follow' anything. I find functionality.
