Its true, I was incorrect about who did it first, however i wasn't wrong about Nobuo. He did the song with Bill Muir for FFX. Later on, he created the Black Mages, and they did the cover. I've never been good with dates.

To add information to further clarify this urban legend, so to speak. The Black Mages, a Japanese band originally formed by Nobuo Uematsu, did this song first. But for Final Fantasy X, Nobuo re-mixed it with Bill Muir's Vocals, and spiced the music up a bit, and thus you have this rockin' song.

Honestly i do have to say i love what Uematsu-sama has done with this piece. he took a fully orchestrated song a did the almost impossible task of merging the modern with the archaic. The original song was Epic in all its Glory,fit enough to represent the biggest badass villain the world has ever seen. And the remake, did him justice once more. who else could throw up a diabolical plot like him, and ascend from a genetic superhuman soldier, to a God? this is stuff of legends.

I love the concept and where you were taking this song. I thought the interpretation was beautiful. But, there is to much pedal and some parts are unnecessary like making some segments go way to fast and going slow again. Just keep it at the same pace, you can change rhythm, but don't change it dramatically. I think if you played around with it some more it could turn into something wonderful. Keep at it, a beautiful arrangement nonetheless.

i see your point there, but i still disagree, if you think about it, in advent children and in dirge of cerberus they used voice actors, and it worked really well, besides, when your playing the game, it wouldnt really matter cause people still think of those things there own way anyway, personally i would just be happy that they'd bought the game out, cause whiles its been announcedm there is a lot of speculation that they wont go through with it

Well seeing as piano is no different from any other instrument musically, and woodwinds/brass/strings/etc can play as they read the sheet music it shouldn't be any different for piano players. It just takes time to get used to it.

I taught myself how to play piano and I've never been able to play while looking at sheet music, I can hardly even read it. I only use the sheets as a cheat to guide me while learning a song, most of it I have to just hit notes and guess till I get it right, which can take hours for a small segment. :[ Anyways, my point is I don't see why sheets are important, I don't even know how anyone can read and play at the same time. I memorize all my songs. I'm learning this song currently too. :)

a strange video, one of the first we ever made. It's for a song called "In an attempt to mimic the human spirit" off of our 2003 release COME ON.
The song was based on the theme from The Sylvan Cave from Final Fantasy IV, by Nobuo Uematsu.
We made it more space rock and added vocals.
It was shot in my basement in Johnson... it stars dave with a head made by ed ott.
