The sax player is Sadao Watanabe. He is a legend in Japan. I got to meet him at the Java Jive show in 1990 or 1991. He's been recording for at least 50 years. I don't know if he is still alive; I haven't heard otherwise. So of his best tunes are "My Dear Life", "Any Other Fool",....

I am one of the biggest Nina fans around, but I feel it would be insulting to Nina to deny that her vocal performance was poor. Her piano playing was impeccable and beautiful as ever, but due to her age and condition(s), she wasn't at her peak of vocal ability here. There is - however - a fantastic performance of ''Ain't Got No I Got Life'' on here, which is truly thrilling to see, and shows a vibrant and perky Nina in her prime. I urge you all to watch it.

Why not? My point is that Patton's music isn't just one or two well written sections, with a bunch of filler in between - everything has it's place. He's always aware of dynamics, and uses everything in the musical toolbox - stacato, marcato, etc. A lot of popular music simply has a strong intro to make a first impression, then allows everything to be pretty generic. Which is fine, if you want to write in that style, but when the entire song is written musically... that creates timelessness.

To be remembered 100 years in the future, you have to be two things - ridiculously good, and ridiculously well known. Patton has a profound understanding of the art, but he doesn't care about success in the mainstream. Good to see Bozzio's ridiculously oversized set still sounds awful. I have never once heard that thing sound good - be it ambient, passive or direct micing. It's cool to see someone like Bozzio sit in for Lombardo but that set... yeeesh.

Yep, mine too...to hear Stern and Scofield straight tear it up with their over the top distorted bebop lines is friggin' awesome! That and I dig saxophonist Bill Evans. The energy and playing on the album is still fresh sounding! "Man With the Horn" is fantastic also!

É impressionante a força da Elis cantando e o pior é que esta música ( e a interpretação) ainda são muito atuais, infelizmente, cada vez mais atuais.
