If you want an honest answer from me: You have a good voice and I can feel that there is a lot of strength inside, but it would be better for you to sing only pieces which were really written for a bass and not pieces for sopranos or tenors.

Beautiful F at the end! And for those who think otherwise, remember, Kurt Moll was one of the greatest basses of the late 20th century and beggining of the 21st, one of the greatest mozart interpreters (in my honest opinion) and this F was not his lowest note. Try his rendition of the commendatore's aria from mozart's "Don Giovanni" with Samuel Ramey... And the F actually IS a low bass note!! I'm with vonmeppen, ignorance is really annoying

"It is not a low bass note" - you don't have any idea how low this note can be if you have to sing it alone in the MET, good choir tenor boy. You are able to sing int better? A tenor in a choir? Are you silly? Kurt Molls F is ideal. Belive me: you can't make it better. Molls F has a resonance which is so strong, that you can't imagine it. Has anyone of you clever people ever seen Kurt Moll on stage?

The man had only been singing for 25 years by this time. If you listen to or see any of his work from early in his career, everything about his singing is different. That's what always happens with singers. You can only do it at a premium level for so long. This is still a textbook rendition of this aria.

Just look at (and listen to) how he is "fetching" that F, as if it were a great C. It does not fit Zarastro's absolute integrity. I mean it. I sing tenor in my choir, but am able to sing that F in a way that both looks and sounds easier. It is not a low bass note. (Hehe, I know you may soon be asking me to put a record up here... which I may, on request. :-))

man muss schon ziemlich taub und sehr naiv udn eingebildet sein um nicht erkennen zu können dass dieser bass dieses stück sehr formidabel udn jeden ton im körper "hat" das ist sehr gut und ehasl hat keine ahnung er weiß ja noch nicht mal wovon er übrhaupt spricht^^

Listen to Youtube video..."Ca.1830 English Barrel Organ" to see Mozartian rhythmic concept.The dynamics are limited,almost as if he were afraid of sotto voce.Further,there is no vocality of concept or surprise here...so critical in a movement like this.

I got to see Moll as Sarastro at the Met... brought me to tears?it was perfect!! Indeed one of the best Sarastro's ever. His voice is beautiful and big. Check out the clip from the last scene of the magicFlute.. he's all the way on the back of the stage and you could hear his low notes as clear as day. Indeed of the best, Bravo Mr. Moll!

The notes were there. I could get a bottom Eb, but there was no power below the a B. Now it's my lowest is a bottom Db. so mu range hasn't changed that much, just I've got the power to fill a large parish church. When I was 14 i wouldn't have done. It's not that unsual. There used to be a 14 year old bass in my Church choir. Boys voices are breaking earlier and going deeper than ever before. Of course there are some boys which buck the trend

I agree! but Kurt Moll does not make it sound it low. This is simply is timbre, it's a natural thing. An that's the hood way. If a bass darkens the sound, then he's a bass wanting to sound someone else, wanting to sound lower than he is. I thought I was a bass because I did this, but I am actually a bass baritone. I sang this aria in the bad way.

While there are of course right and wrong ways to sing a note (ie. not hitting it, singing it in a way that harms your vocal cords, or simply not singing the right note, but I don't think we're worrying about That), in the context of singing these notes, each person has an individual way to hit these notes. I find among basses, that we might have the right notes, but we push on the sound, or darken it. The sound is more in relation to his age, size, and diaphram work. So don't despair :)

great memorization! I think the intonation was better in the Jenkinson. Plus some dynamics would create more interest in the Seitz. So the piece sounds like you like playing it, and not another etude. Well done and look for more expression.

i think the people who act like critics are just people who love the music and are giving a little advice on how u can improve (except that johnalexjohn fool) If you put a video on youtube, u kinda expect people to give u those little points of advice. All i'm saying is just listen to the advice that people give you when it comes to music. U don't necessarily have to change how u play cuz someone tells u too, but just think about people's adice as u play and try it and see how it sounds

very good playing-almost there in the core of Chopin's music maybe think of the music in terms of longer phrases, you tend to express measure by measure which causes friction in the overall motion + fluidity of the piece. in some places you could emphasize the down beats a bit less. let the left hand move more ahead, not too romantic.

Lol I find all of the people acting like they are serious critics (johnalexjohn, musicadeloslocos) Dont get me wrong, I love piano and have been playing for 5 years. But my point is that we're only on Youtube....not judging a piano recital Just my opinion.

This nocturne above all others sticks out in my mind. When i think of a night piece this is what i think of. The key of Bb minor was a perfect choice for this piece.That particular key gives the feeling of loneliness,Sadness,melancholy. I also love how this piece ends peacefully. Chopin was a master at putting emotion and depth into music. Not just a composer a musical poet.
