u also have to experiment with angles when you take your photographs , it makes it more interesting plus you get a nice variety of different shots

I know what you mean but not all the time. Sometimes it can be interesting to use a tele instead. I tend not to but I've often been confronted by people while using my 35 haha. Entertaining. People saying stuff like "your not allowed to photograph here" of course they are wrong... Isn't it strange how some people automaticaly assume, or act like they have moral and social superiority over photographers? It's as if we are intruding on their lives. I love reading peoples reactions to photography.

I take hip shots(not often) to keep the scene looking natural, don't want people staring into the lens.

I agree, the hip technique works most of times with a little luck, sometimes you a obscure angle but mostly that is a good thing.

You can also get good candids by learning to shoot from the hip/waist with a wide angle so that noone knows you're shooting. Or get a camera with a viewfinder that flips up and use it as a waist level viewfinder. Another trick I use is to point the camera at the subject and look at another direction so they don't know you're photographing them.

At least he's making good use of the light. Streetlight is awesome, it's the best quality you can get. Studio light is not as real. He has the right approach, insight and he's not just registrating but also making art.

Cameras don't take pictures, photographers do. Cameras are just another artist's tool. Maybe because it's entirely an artist's eye, patience and skill that makes an image and not his tools. Even Ansel said "The single most important component of a camera is the twelve inches behind it."
