In reply to the previous interpretations of the lyrics, I personally believe it's a metaphor for an abusive relationship, with monkey as the manipulative and abusive partner, promising the world but using his bride to feather his own nest. I think the best examples of this are "can you bear a little long to wear this leash" and "sooner or later you'll bare your teeth". The monkey makes his "love" dance for money while he does nothing. The ending is so poetic, as her spirit joins the great bear.

I'd say you could interpret most, if not all, such folktales/fairytales as being metaphors for real-life situations :) It could certainly be what you said, and it could also be that she left the situation entirely, and a number of other things... But I think a lot of the charm of such stories lies in the way they're presented, and just as much time could be spent thinking about the Bear as a woman. Hope I've been a help

Thank you WhoopMQ! That is sort of how I interpreted it too. Though I am left wondering whether the monkey and bear characters are metaphores for an ill relationship between two people. And maybe when she says "bear steps clear of bear" means that the "bear character" is leaving behind that person she used to be in that relationship. What do you say? I am not a musician but I think her voice is intentionally contrapuntal to the harp and purposefully so. She does have range and uses it in different songs. There is an intentional 'genious' here not a Daniel Johnston talent. When I began enjoying wine I would swear by Rieslings, Gewurtzraminer and Chardonnays. Now my pallet (?) is broader (not better necessarily) and a good Shiraz can give me the Jake Leg. It's a progression in sampling the world.

as I said, everyone has their own style, Michael prefers being a man, did you ever watch their photos? he's stretched in his whole body to max in every moment. He just shows the strong half in the couple and lets Joanna do the show - because that's the woman's role. If you don't like their style - your problem, but you can't say they suck cause Slavik can't do the things I just mentioned, his style also has it's own charm but as it appears Michael is better in what he does on the floor :)

every couple has their own style, joanna is the best at speed and she uses that advantage, she's also extremely flexible which you can easily notice in her routines. "karina stretch from tip of fingers to bottom of toes " look at joanna on this film for example at 0:14 - that's what I call a stretch, of course I'm not trying to insult you or something, just saying my opinion :)

The positives are their excellent partnership...they've been together for over 5 years. Michal is always there for her, and they're in sync. Their routines are clean and rehearsed, unlike other couples that make more mistakes. Joanna Leunis is the technician, and for Michal the lack of hip motion compared to Slavik is because of the way he was born. I understand why their on the top, even though they are not my favourite couple.
