Gators suck and so do you. The Illinois Basketball team of 2004-05 was the #1 team that year no matter what anyone says. They only lost in the championships because it wasn't a fair game at all. There was a whistle every 1 minute and guess who it was on? Illinois. Sean May could do anything he wanted and not get a whistle on him. I remember watching the game and getting so pissed I'd turn the TV off (only to turn it back on a minute or so later). Yeah we lost, we shouldn't have but, so what?

I dont care wut anyone says this team was #1. They should of won the championship game only if it was played fairly. Course its hard to win a game when yer gettin pushed around all over the court and the refs are retards...This was a team full of heart and they fought and deserved every bit of it. A lot of players have similar running styles but that doesn't mean their careers will be the same. Cedric Benson ran hard in college but he ran like a bitch in the NFL and that's why he's a free agent now. I didn't watch many Illi games but the ones I have watched and the Mendenhall highlights I have seen lead me to believe, he runs hard ALL the time. I think Darren McFadden is better overall but Mendenhall is a monster when he runs the ball. I think he's going to compliment Parker perfectly.

No, there are marines that guard embassies. They do not however do diplomat PSD(protective service details). Feds handle that. DSS agents. But when this war popped off there weren't enough to go around and they had to start hiring contractors. The the feds control these contractors when they're working, as if they were employees. Well, actually, soldiers don't do diplomat PSD. It's not the Mils place. DSS agents do. And they have a full retirement package, health, dental, educational and family benefits. The Contractor's salary is taxed, no benefits, and he's not paid while at home. Figure $350-650 a day working 200 days in a combat zone a year. Roughly $100k. when did frank say that? i'd like to know so i could read up on it. and just because frank regarded jeff beck so highly doesn't make him a better guitarist. thats frank's opinion. frank often criticized and undermined his own guitar playing. he was modest i theat aspect. also, i should have said that frank zappa was a better improviser than beck and vai. to me frank was the john coltrane of guitar.

i agree and disagree.....i don't think Beck can be learned as either......you can learn a song but not an inflection or tone..Zappa was a very abstract player yet if you listen closely no matter how far he wondered in a solo there was always a "tie" to the main theme.....i haven't ever seen ANYONE else be able to do that....as for Beck ? to understand Zappa's comment i think you just need to view a few videos on here like somewhere over the rainbow....drown in my own tears..FZ-JB BOTH MONSTERS.

I've often wondered at Frank's quote about Beck being 'more fluid' than him - Vai is a total monster no question - I think FZ was just humble and unpretentious - but his solos are, like, ok, not pyrotechnic stuff but totally mesmerising and UNLEARNABLE which both Vai and Beck are. It's not just his COMPOSITION - it's the really weird way he had of IMPROVISATION - its so speech inflected its unrepeatable and just says so much which others can't for all their skill.

i like that face that frank can improv like no other. i mean anyone can memorize a sweet guitar solo and practice it over and over. just look at these 8 year old kids that can play EVH and stuff. it really comes down to the solos you make up on the spot.

did anybody else see this as pretty much a repeat of last years game against kansas state? ksu & illinois took a temporarily lead by a quick touchdown and jeremy maclin responds with a 99 yard kickoff return in both. at 3:30 we also get a little defensive help from the illini kinda like the offensive sack by kstate. also the lead would have been the same at 17 if we had not given up the touchdown on the last play of the game

This was a great game that showed that Illinois is on the right path again. To go on the road and not just beat teams, but absolutely kick the shit out of them, shows that Ron Zook will completely bring back the once-ailing program in a few years, and that 2007 is just the beginning. It looks like they actually scored on every drive in this game, or close to it.

True, but it's in Camp Randall. I think the Penn State game is another big one because they're different on the road than at home. Penn State blew out Wisconsin 38-7 at home, but on the road only beat Indiana 36-31. But I think if Illinois can beat Mizzou and PSU, they'll have the confidence to run the table and steamroll over everyone, including Ohio State, make it to the NCG, possibly win and finish #1.

I think they'll squeak past Mizzou, but it could go either way. If Mizzou wins, then I see them in the NCG. Illinois might lose in Happy Valley only because it's a conference opener and it's at night in a stadium that made so much of a home field advantage that Penn State played Michigan to the wire in 2006. But what works in Illinois' favor here is that they're much better than they were in 2007, and they did beat Penn State in 2007, never once trailing on the scoreboard. The other one is Wisky

Actually that was 2006. In 2005 the only wins for the Illini were over San Jose State and Rutgers, but went winless in the Big Ten. The much improved Illinois in 2006 got its only conference win agianst Michigan State and an OOC win against Eastern Illinois. The difference was that the 2006 Illinois team just couldn't close the deal in close games, but the 2005 Illinois team was consistantly blown out. The 2007 Illini showed the beginnings of the team's true potential.
