You're insane if you think Nigel Kennedy plays ANYTHING better than William Primrose. I have never listened to Lawrence Power though, so if his interpretation really is great, then you should post it. I heard some short samples of him playing it, and I didn't really like what I heard (he had a slow vibrato and somewhat of a generic sound), but it wasn't enough for me to make an accurate judgment, so you should definitely post it.

Good man. I'm only listening for the first time, but this concerto is fantastic. Also, I'm sorry, but I found Primrose's Walton pretty awful. Have a look at Lawrence Power (which also has the only recording of the fantastic Rubbra concerto) or Nigel Kennedy.

very badly. i am well accuainted with those who do. a big admirer of those who do play i guess you could say. i am more of hte composer type than actual instrumentalist. i play a lot but not all well, just enough to know things about them. of couse i haven't progressed well enough in me compositions to feel confortable with extorting me work. i guess you could say it that way.

Okay, first things first. Wozzeck is NOT dodecaphonic; it is atonal. Second, I don't like the fact that it gets a little repetetive in places. Some spots it's just the same stuff over and over again, and it sort of kills the value of that section. Now, I will give it credit; as a whole, the work is interesting to listen to (especially that orchestration *shivers*), but it would be better if some segments weren't repeated so damn often. So there. Got it?

Again, revoltz7, Treatise is not your average piece of music. It doesn´t specify instruments, and the (very beautiful) score is basically 190 pages of graphics, with only a hint of something ressembling musical notation. So you could play it with "normal" instruments, even as the score is in itself an invitation to explore other sonorities. We´re back to the XX century, a time where asking questiona about what is and what can be music used to be welcome.

Well I agree that you cannot fully judge a piece of music based on a quick listen. However that piece could have quite easily been mistaken for sound effects in any video game, tv series or film. If I had known it was a 'piece of music' I would not have judged it as such.

revoltz7, if you take a look at the score of Treatise you will be more qualified to judge work like that. Just a few seconds of one possible interpretation(if you take a look at the score you´ll understand why no final interpretation of this work is likely to happen) cannot make for a study of the score and and many hours listening to several versions. Then you´re qualified to cheer or lambast a work of art.

Ah, ok! I´ve checked their site a while ago, but the huge amount of music discouraged me a bit, i have to admit. I still have a problem with downloads, especially when they are so big. Not in terms of hard drive speed, but in terms of having the proper quality time to listen carefully. I guess Richtones will always have a problem with a score like Treatise, made with non-musicians in mind. It should be obvious by now that is not about either/or, rather eitherANDor!

What I find is interesting is perfectly intelligent, logical people will watch this and will be offended or attempt to smear you. When I say "the best" ...what I really mean is: The most solid in regards to evidence for the "truths" that come about from it. The most verified and verifiable and hence objective. The most flexible (in a good way),useful, andlogical. The most proven. And the least subjectively delusional (and more). In other words there are good reasons to call it "the best", and each of those reasons can be weighed against any other system of "knowledge" and science will come out on top every time. :)

Misreading, not intentionally misquoting, I bump into these "periods" in all systems that call themselves "best," be they scientific, philosophical, or theological. Did you not read what I stated: "..in the realm of probability". In other words...science comes to the closest we can to the probability pf "truth". In Epistomology...knowldge is truth + belief. Without the probable 'truth' values of science we cannot have probable 'knowledge' values...only beliefs based on subjective biased faith. Hey, Trick, aren't you making science a religion of absolutes? It is not about knowledge period. It is about research (searching again & again) leading to theory leading through falsification to approximation of truth open to anomalies and hence new theories etc. Science is flowing with truth wherever it may be found, even in the deepest or highest point of human consciousness (mystical knowing).
