I like this song. Apparently race seems to come in mind proving now matter how cool the ride someone has to piss on the details. I've heard of what happened in the 70's. all things considered they seemed to not do a single thing wrong here or for there entire series for that matter. Also this song style has very little to do with rap or its creator hip hop which is not what this is. As a black person I wish we had hero's like verb rather than these the poison that is rappers.

I just came across this. Wow, Grammar Girl is very interesting in a good way! She reminds me of my former, she was always happy, I think that's what makes teaching so much better for people. If the man's name was Bills, then you would be right. Apostrophes only come after the s if the word ending in an s is possessive of something. For example, "the girls' flight leaves soon," would mean the flight of multiple girls leaves soon. If you changed it to, "the girl's flight leaves soon," that would mean one girl's flight if leaving soon. I hope this is helpful.

I am confused...I thought that a semi-colon was used to show ownership. Like "Bills' car" and then used this way when talking about someone. Like "Bill's coming to get his car" The ' taking the place of "is"....Did I explain that right? It sounds confusing but I know what I mean....and when I see a sign like "Bill's House" that does not look right to me. It should be "Bills' house" not "Bill's...."

So true. Spanish is very useful to know, especially here in the U.S.! I'll likely learn some along with my children. It seems so many children's programs focus on bilingualism (at least the kinds of programs I let my kids watch). Many books and toys also use both English and Spanish. Did you know that many early childhood learning centers (for example, preschools) have Spanish programs here in the U.S.?

Hello Rashid. I know I am not Jennifer but I think I can answer your question. There is no reason that I, as an native English speaker, can see why you would use the past tense instead of the present in this situation. In fact, if you use the present tense and omit the word "that", you will be better recieved. For example, "I would rather you not tell a lie." is better and more commonly used than "I would rather that you didn't tell a lie." I hope that helped you.

Absolutely correct! PractISE is a verb. PractICE is a noun. In Canada, we learned that in Grade 6. Unfortunately, in some other countries, they figure that's one word too many to remember, and just spell everything as though it's the noun. But then, they say 'nuCUlar', too ;)

I'm pretty sure Stephen is right in the sense that none (not one) is the original and proper use of the word, but over time (since the 9th century) Alan's usage has been accepted, even if it's not STRICTLY correct. You're right to note that perspective is important. Sometimes in learning a language you have to think from a different point of view to understand the grammar. When I was studying Japanese, I found it interesting to distinguish objects for counting. Did you know that the Japanese have different ways of counting books, people, cylindrical objects and more? Hmm for me, beach is an area, no a point. In Polish we don't have word "at", everytime we use "in". I'm not sure, but in and at can show a meaning of the sentence. e.x. Tom works at bank (The bank is his workplace) I'm in the bank (I'm in the building) I'm at school (I learn there) My mom is in the school (She is on parents meeting). Do sentences are correct?
