Thought the exact same. Well played but definitely on the "light 'n' easy" side. I miss the weight, expression and rich harmonizations of American gospel music. This is nicely done, but definitely has a "European" feel to it, making it sound more like something out of a stage musical than gospel music. I am arranger and organist in a Portuguese gospel choir and I know how hard it is to get that depth and power of the real deal (no offense). Unless one wants to go for a lighter mood.

Hey KMByo, you should check out the album "Blackstar" by Mos Def and Talib Kweli. It is quite a famous album and has been very well received...it really is an incredible cd. Search "Thieves in the Night" or "Definition" for great examples of tracks from that cd.

True enough. Few would dispute what you state here. People are people and there are plenty of folk who succeed pretty damn well at living by the golden rule whether or not they consider themselves religious. I saw The Soweto Gospel Choir perform at Stanford University this evening and most of their songs were in a language I don't understand.
