I always loved Pink Floyd but never looked into Gilmour's solo efforts until recently....have been a HUGE fan ever since and particularly love watching this video. (Except for the backup singers, I think they really kinda took away a bit but hey that's me.) I have Gilmour CDs in my car, myhome, and Gilmour loaded on my cellphone and Ipod. Thanks forposting this.

This is one of my favorite Floyd songs & I've watched the DVD of this concert numerous times but from the first time I watched it till even now, I still think "Father Time" ruined it!! For one he is SO incredibly outa tune but he doesn't even read the lyrics which I may add are right in front of him.. correctly. As usual Gilmour is AMAZING! but the version with Bob Geldof reading the lyrics is 100% better then this!

David Guilmour is an excelent guitar player, but he does makes some mistakes in this solo...He's not God...he's a Guitar God, and all guitar Gods became Gods by making mistakes... Sure. I agree, Gilmour is on the top of the list...like he gets better with age. But, think you missed 2 other same category slow-handers (Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler)..matter of fact Gilmour mentions their names himself as ones he admires and respects in many interviews. --OK yup there is also B.B. King, Chet Atkins, Hank Marvin etc... they don't shred and they're real talented stuff (you ought to check them out too in case you like David Gilmour). Cheers!! Ashwin

Time to take it down a few notches. Just think of the size of Gilmours balls, to even think of trying to pull this one off. This is the same man who will do Bizet, then turn around and do a song from "Chity-Chity-Bang-Bang". Why? Because Gilmour can recognize a good song when he sees one, and will perform them all with an understated elegance that seems to be the hallmark of the Worlds greatest artists.

If you listen to his technique it´s got very little to do with opera and he strains a lot for every high note and he does glissandos instead of legato between the notes. but I want compare his rendition of this aria with anyone else's because I think he knows that he is no opera singer but I bet you that he listens to opera because this aria ain´t as easy to get to as the Nessun dormas or la donna mobiles.so I think it proves he´s got good taste in music.

Was not much of a PF fan over the years and actually heard this song (as well as a couple of other songs from the set) for the very 1st time ever when I just happened upon the show when it was played on HD Theatre last month. I was blown away by the whole show and I love this song! The whole production and with the Polish strings, it was just too cool.
