It's got to be possible. I've been to two different aquariums and seen some strange things. One guide told us that catfish eat any and everything and can grow very big. Also you got to think that we only know a fraction about the oceans and the animals that live in water. Well, rods are intended to work with the reel so that it will not break. After a certain amount of force is pulled on the line, the reel will let line out to spare the line and the rod. However, they are not intended to be bent for 6 hours. He probably fabricated... It could have been like 8 feet, but the behavior of the fish indicates it was really big (ignoring the tension of the line). I am puzzled that the line and the rod broke at the same time... that makes no sense.

we have those pikes here at christina lake in canada, they're really aggressive. when we were learning how to ski on one ski in the '90s, my cousin had his foot dragging back and a pike fuckin grabbed his shin.
