Validation of electroshock isnt what i was talking about. electroshock is validated by its history and efficacy, not by tests. I was responding to the comment about nazis making most of the contributions to modern neuroscience. it is advances such as EEG and CT's and other sorts of imaging technology that facilitated the vast majority of our modern day understanding of neuroanatomy and physiology, not the nazis as someone else had suggested.

If electroshock were in any way supposed to be therapeutic it would use a gag lighter or pen instead of deliberator like shocks directly to the brain. See with a gag lighter or pen a person has the choice of picking the thing up and holding it down. A person would be able to control the intensity of the shock by letting go of the gag object at any time.

ECT actually hepls people to a certian degree by improving there ability to live stable mental lifes. ECT now days is done way better than in the 1900s. Yes brain damage is possible. But is not a high chance of brain damage depends how much ect treatment you receive. Apparently it is the most effective treatment better than meds.

I happened to just watch Denzel Washington in 2004's Manchurian Candidate. In the movie he willingly takes an ECT treatment and the story line continues with a character innocuously explaining that ECT is metaphorically "rebooting the brain " like a Pc. I think this is very harmful to have such a respected actor in a role that reinforces the supposed "benificance" of the dreadful treatment. His character is an Army vet, who knows how many "treatments" are meted out by the VA?

Do you see a lot of cures around as a result of these "therapies"? Could it be that one judges the validity of a therapy by the rate of success? Is it possible to really be happy? Is it possible that they don't know what the mind is or how to deal with it? Could they be faking their knowledge? Can something be done about the mind and unhappiness? You said it right...I couldn't remember my name, where I was, why I was there, or even who the person picking me up from the hospital was (btw he was my husband)...I still have a horrible memory and have trouble with things. My mom brings up things when I see her and I have no clue what she is talking about now...and it was about something that happened a month before my treatment. I had 7 sessions total and I wish I had never had them.

I had more than 100 ECT treatments in nine years. The mouth guard was always inserted after I was unconscious and I never had a diaper. I did end up with "veins like a junky," in the words of one anaesthetist, from the frequent injections of anaesthetic. My memory was shot too. It's been 10 years since my last treatment, but I feel I've earned the right to blame all my cognitive blunders and crappy memory on the multiple seizures my brain endured. It's a conversation starter (or stopper)!

Hi, it´s very good that you open the watcher's eyes about what the psychiatric system really is... I myself have no experience with ECT (thanks god) but I´m labled with schizophrenia over a half time of my life. Most of that time under psychiatric drugs like Haloperidol. I cried watching this video. My wonderful son had 12 unsuccessful treatments. I am still horrified by what they did to him and I fear any future complications. Too many health care professionals do not administer treatments and drugs properly to those who suffer, and it breaks my heart to hear what you went through, knowing that was my boy's experience.

I cried as I finished watching your ECT video. It's NOT therapy at all! My son had 12 "treatments". They caused more harm than good. I worry about the complications that have occurred and am scared to death for what may happen in the future. ECT was very bad for him and it simply DID NOT WORK. NOT treating mental illness properly, not paying better attention to the kinds of treatments and drugs used affects not just those who suffer, affects all of us. Thank you, Liz.

keracare is available from most black hair shops behind the counter! Ask for it! I can get it anywhere in South East. Chi is available I have two one I bought on ebay one from an online salon. They are a lil expensive check the sizes though both mone cost nearly the same and one is waaay huger than the other one is mini so check before u buy! Girl, this regimen is no joke!!! I have natural hair that I wear curly (fotki: kymelle). Usually, even after intense conditioning my hair always had crunchy hard ends (??), so flat ironing was unbearable and I always had to do it a couple of times to "soften" up the ends.

Nerds unite! Hehe I recruited for my university this past year and my opening line was "I am a geek... I know... it's true" Hahaha I'm turning 23 in March and I have TONS of grey hair. If I don't colour it it's quite noticeable... gotta love genetics. LOVE the Hello Kitty collection! OMG, when I saw that I freaked out... I just went "well... there goes all my money!"
