Why? Because Carlin lost his credibility with a lot of people early on in his career and was considered a quack by a lot of older folks. Trust me on this - I'm 20 years older than you. I loved Carlin a great deal but my parents & many of their contemporaries thought he was psychotic. I don't think Bill Hicks was as funny as he was clever. I think he was an incredibly intelligent person and a good comedian, some of his stuff was hilarious granted, but I would place Eddie Izzard and Billy Connoly above him in a best stand up list.
