By: yourforte. on 17 Nov 08, 00:44:18
Love this Aria. And Barenboim really lets the Bach sing out without inflicting his own personality on the music. Beautiful.
By: lostlove10. on 12 Nov 08, 21:19:22
i love this song and i dont know too much about music unless its singing but i do think this version has a sweeter note to it and i think its lovely and beautifull....... almost warming to the heart
By: gorgodark. on 05 Nov 08, 10:31:19
ich finde barenboim ist einer de begnadetsten pianisten unserer zeit und du klingst für mich eher neidisch!!!!!!!
By: Eleukri. on 04 Nov 08, 13:05:29

I don´t like the way he plays Bach, is boring and not clear. Also, he plays it like a work dated in 1830. It does not convince me.
By: minijatura26. on 29 Oct 08, 15:09:00
i saw him yesterday conducting Mahler 1st! he is a monster...really amazing!
By: hl2alyx. on 25 Oct 08, 01:50:49
why does B like to sit so high above the piano?
By: vitaminq13. on 19 Oct 08, 22:27:02
barenboim plays beethoven a lot better, i think-but this piece still makes me feel happier whenever i hear it, i dunno why. my dad said this piece is like being up in heaven-and i think he's right.
By: kajohada. on 19 Oct 08, 07:49:28
...that´s completely a fatal error:((
By: NatashaNabokov. on 16 Oct 08, 06:15:04
The audio makes it a little odd sounding, but I'm sure that it sounds wonderful live.
By: medicitv. on 12 Oct 08, 19:50:18
Gould versions of these variations are two very different fundamental masterpieces. Yet there are so many other rare interpretations of these precious variations : Yudina, Perahia, Kempff (a very original one!), ... And this one : Barenboim plays with such elegance, softness and clarity at the same time. 5/5 !
By: UbuntuBird. on 11 Oct 08, 09:03:34
This is a music made for God! What´s better than that? Bach is the number one. Thanks..Danke..

No menos buena persona que músico.Extraordinaria interpretación del genio argentino-hispano-judio.¡PREMIO NOBEL DE LA PAZ YA..,!

...no style...no class------>mr.mediocre barenboim:((
By: katkula. on 12 Sep 08, 20:34:18
Somehow I think his personality doesn't really fit to this piece. His playing is too open, too declamative. Gould is more subtle in nuances, and that's better!
By: aerugo49. on 08 Sep 08, 00:06:51
it is a great performance by a gifted musician. i don't like the sound of this piano though. it's too bright.
By: twilightbringer. on 07 Sep 08, 01:48:27
Right on dude.
By: milol33. on 06 Sep 08, 10:30:08
I prefer the 1982 Gould interpretation
By: chlrldud74. on 03 Sep 08, 22:33:29
Not to take anything away from Barenboim - he is a great musician - but this performance somehow doesn't cut it for me. It lacks the clarity of form which could really make a performance of Goldberg special. But I guess everyone has their tastes. Just my two cents...
By: indigoblue555. on 02 Sep 08, 21:00:36
I'd suggest ..just listen to .... Don't keep rating or comparing at any cost. Every rendition leads us a little bit closer to Bach.
By: manley620. on 22 Aug 08, 03:23:08
The assertive opening is refreshing after hearing so many sloshed, slow, lugubrious renderings. Remember the harpsichord. This perfomance utilizes the variable dynamics and articulations made possible on the piano while still approximating (without buffoonishly imitating) the harpsichord. And what delicate, intoxicating slow trills.
By: superpojken13. on 14 Aug 08, 16:40:37
It's supposed to be played a bit fast.
By: soldier2119. on 14 Aug 08, 07:43:00
I think it's a little to fast... but it's good too !
By: brian1685. on 14 Aug 08, 00:30:39
I love Gould's interpretation but you have to listen to Perahia's, is just as wonderful.
