I read so often the comment that there is no good music anymore... I suggest searching a little deeper. There is an abundance of great stuff out there. When I hear this comment I think of when I was a child and the "old folks" dissed rock 'n' roll, The Beatles,et al. Listen with a young heart. There are beautiful, touching, moving, incredible songs all around. That being said - I agree that BJH wrote some great music!

Love BJH - saw them live in '76. My only criticism is that this song hits the heart but you look at their expessions at time 5.22 - 5.28 and they look like its just another gig. Song's like that should never be played without emotion doesn't matter how many times the group has performed it.

In 1971,I played in a band called Heavy Rain, from Blackpool.We supported Barclay James at the "Amerthyst"in Preston.,they performed this track amazingly.Second on the bill was a band from Preston based band, Stoned Rose,later to become "Ritzi". I joined in 1974, and we are still together, gigging and recording.This song is special for many reasons,I met my future wife at that gig and 37 years later we're still together.Its her fav song. Dont agree, angryassmoan. If people only put arse-licking comments up on YouTube, how dull would it be? It wouldnt represent the full range of response. I don't want to see reams and reams of "OMG this is brilliant," underneath a clip (besides, the negative comments are often the most entertaining to read). BJH did some all right stuff ("In Memory Of The Martians"), but this song breaks the gauge of the bland-o-meter. It is SO vapid and unimaginative.

yes its their best!...the follow up to going to earth 'XII' in 78 is nearly as good... all their 70s album are interesting ...after Z departure of Wooly the band loose a little bit of his complexity and depth. Their next albums "Eyes of the Universe"(79)& "Turn of the Tide"(81) were goin in a more FM radio direction...it loss a bit of magic... but the band was stillgood enough...with good guitar parts...& some good rests of their recent 70s glory... then...i say no...it was the synthetic 80s!

Bei diesem Lied waren die Jungs von Barclay James Harvest offenbar schwer von den Moody Blues und insbesondere von deren Hymne "Nights in White Satin" inspiriert. Nicht umsonst haben sie ihren Titel nach den Moodys benannt. Eine wunderschöne Ballade und auch sehr gut durchkomponiert, aber irgendwie wirkt dieses Lied doch etwas seichter als das beeindruckende Meisterwerk der Moodys. BJH hatte halt keinen Justin Hayward.

My favourites? Its a difficult call. As I said I loved the Moody Blues and Pink Floyd. I also like the Waterboys, Transglobal Underground and Dance 2 Trance plus of course BJH. A couple of my all time favourite songs are on youtube - December by the Waterboys and Grapes of Wrath (wrongly inserted as Grapes of Wrap) by the Mission. Have you heard Silver Wings by BJH? isnt it wonderful?

No, no, I was not being critical of you. I agree with you and do not personally like most of today's music. My gripe is against comments so as "this song is crap" (and sometimes more colourfully put). "In my opinion this song is crap" would be better. My point was that, like yourself, many young people today seem to prefer older material. If there are people out there who disagree, good for them. As I said before,each to their own.

Das ist musik mit herz gefühl und mit musikalischen skills. Nicht so ein remix scheiß der am pc erstellt wurde oder so ne scheiß casting band. Das war noch musik die bewegt und wo die meisten sich wieder erkennen. Nicht wie heute wo jedernur singt wie scheiße es doch ist und das man nur mit gewalt weiter kommt bzw wenn man andere sänger disst. das hatten die nicht nötig würde es mehr gruppen heute geben wie diese wie geil könnten die charts aussehen. dann wären sido bushiodo usw abgeschrieben.

Ja, leider. Das ist nämlich noch richtige Musik. BJH haben Musik und Text geschrieben und konnten auch noch singen. So etwas ist heute von den meisten Bands schon zu viel verlangt. Die sind froh wenn sie in den Konzerthallen die Lippenbewegungen halbwegs zur Musik hinbekommen um dann zu behaupten sie singen live. Mag zwar sein, dass der Text zu Hymn sehr viele verwirrt hat, aber ob "du bist vom selben Stern, wie ich" wirklich besser ist?? Der Text hier hat wenigstens noch Kreativität dahinter.
