Zhang Ziyi is a very talented actress. I loved her in The Road Home. It's harder for others because they have to land a Hollywood part to become world famous. btw, have you seen Painted Skin? It has an all-star cast of Vicki Zhao, Zhou Xun, Sun Li, Chen Kun, and Donnie Yen (and Jane Zhang as the theme song singer, just like in the Banquet). Absolutely beautiful movie without Zhang Ziyi.

I just watched this video in english class, this scene and the scene where Macbeth gets his head sliced off by Macduff are the best ones. Polanski did a great job, my english teacher pointed out motifs throughout the film, like when Macbeth drops the goblet and it spins in this scene is a parallel to when he kills Duncan and his crown spins when it hits the floor. Very good movie.

What I think is great about this movie, is that the actors really live their characters, and the story seems real. Like the changes of scene between lines, and walking while speaking and stuff. It makes it much more entertaining. In most other shakespeare adoptions they sort of just recite their lines, but here it's like the characters are actually having a conversation.
