I had this problem. Resolved without changing inverter board. It seems my flicker was caused by a replacement HDD I bought (320GB samsung model). At first it was ok, but after a week or so it started to flicker like hell - seems there are some problems with HDD power managment. Either way, you can check if this solution applies to you: remove your HDD, plug it in a SATA>USB interface and boot your mac from HDD attached to USB port (by holding Alt key at start up).

That really doesn't sound right. It's probably just a defect on the 2006 laptops. I think that the screen should be replaced for free even if the owner hasn't purchased applecare (apple's fault, not the owner's). They're just too cheap to do it though.

This is SO annoying, I got a black macbook in march of 2007.. I noticed it in the summer, got the inverter board replaced under warrenty. And it started doing it again. Sometimes it flickers, other times the screen blacks out completely on the left side... I have no idea whats wrong, it's driving me nuts. I hope one day my suffering will be over.

Probably just had a batch of bad VDUs. If it ever goes completey goes out and has no backlight in the future then it's definately that. They probably use their own special inverter board but in general, if the solder isn't the best on it, it does that. I've just reflowed VDUs at the main capacitors, fuses, and coil and it fixes PC laptop flickering.

DO NOT INSTALL...It did not kill my brand new MultiTouch MacBook Pro (4.1) but the thing is that it did make it so the keyboard would not turn on whenever iTunes was running even when this was not set as my Visualizer because it would load it into iTunes, and then take presidence over OS X as far as controling the backlight based on the Ambient light sensor...I have heard that there needed to be something called an iBrain for this to not cause any problems or damage. Not sure on that one though.

you need to open your library inder menu, go to the itunes folder, and drag the plug in into the iTunes Plug-ins folder... i also worked out the by hitting the i key when in itunes toggles a screen backlight function to the ispaz. this makes both the keyboard backlight and the screen backlight dance to your beats... hope this helps :)

Burn in can occur on LCDs, it's just not permanent and will go away after a short time, especially with the TV off. They're very resistant to burn in so not to worry. It happened to me once with my LCD monitor when I left it on overnight and the screensaver didn't trigger. I had outlines of a few desktop icons retained on the screen. I turned off the LCD for 15 minutes and when I turned it back on they were gone. :)

I rated you down because you're talking about plasmas, not LCDs. It's a common misconception that LCD screens do the same thing as plasmas and give burn in, however, I have literally had to leave my TV on over night with the same image on it to convince people that burn in just does not occur on LCDs.

I don't know what the following is. Clouding Backlighting Muro Can someone tell me what it is? My friend has this same TV, I just ordered mine last night. I watch it all the time at his house and to me it looks really awesome. There were motion blur at first when we got it, but we calibrated and fixed the settings and the problem went away. Plus, the motion blur only occured when we had the motion enhancer on. This could be fixed with noise reduction off.

Hi de hi folks, I am suffering over the possible purchase of a Sony 32 inch TAV-L1 it has a drop down panel at the front. Anyway I really cant afford this unit at the moment and I have to move it across Europe at my own expense ( its not available any more on the market) so I never heard till now any negative feed-back from LCD users, especially Sony.
