True enough from watching this video... they play quite differently on their respective solos. You are right... SRV had his own style and no one will ever match it. I just think its cool to see the student / master relationship. Actually, if you listen to the entire Session album, there's a lot of discussion between Stevie and Albert talking about when they first met.

Albert King influenced Stevie, but that is all, cause SRV had his own style that nobody will ever match! Eric Clapton was sick with the flu when they recorded this, but when snaps into that solo, man it's amazing. If I didn't already play the guitar, this solo'd make me want to play.
Also, I hadn't noticed how much Clapton's voice had inproved since the 60's, but it's an amazing Change.

A lot of folk have mentioned the lack of fire with this performance. I only hope that when I am Ginger's age, I can still do the drum thing... These guys are tired, and obviously, Eric was sick. Jack had almost died of kidney disease, and frankly, it is a miracle that they even got on stage and performed. More power to them...yeah, I missed the roaring stack of Marshals and the SG and the Wha, but what the hell...these guy's music defined the sixties power trio... BRAVO! ADT

I'm amazed at Albert's musical thinking and stay amazed at the different possibilities in all music's. First time I really checked him out. I saw Albert Lee and Hogans Heroes a couple of weeks ago, absolutely mind blowing. Judging by his appearance, the video is a good few years ago, but believe me, his technique is as good now as it ever was, even though he recently broke his arm! Can strongly recommend.

His style of playing, his versatility, his tone, feel and sound is all his, and what is inovative! His style is inovative! You gotta realise that at the time you had many guitar players that were about the same, and doing nothing special and big, and than all of a sudden comes SRV, with something raw, magical, never seen before, and 100% pure honesty and natural! Microtonal bending is what I meant. And it has a lot to do with blues and indian music in general. But you're right there's no point in arguing. Just realize that when someone bends crazy like Albert or Buddy Guy it's intentional, and not out of tune or sloppy. Albert's hands were HUGE and he could bend notes every which way with ease!

Well grga888 technique really means nothing when comes down to creating I value the art of creation more than technique and improv should come from that not the result of technique. Now did SRV revitalize the blues? yes. Was double trouble a sick band? yes. Did he have a unique sound? yes.But SRV did not change the blues?
