This is an Iggy song and like Lou Reed has had the template of his originality stolen by the usual suspects. The musicians on The Idiot, Gardner, Sales bros, Bowie are the music but the words are Jimmy's. The TV Eye live version is a stunner. Actually he was right, too right in this case. He correctly said that the PC market would move into the professional space, this indeed occurred. The problem is that NeXT could never hit the price targets that would get them the 50% that they were looking for. If they misread anything, it was the price sensitivity of the market (my guess is that they didn't misread it, they were getting a bit desperate). NeXT's biggest problem is that they showed up too late with tech that was too early.

What immediately hits me as I'm watching this, is that it's the first time I see Steve Jobs being so absolutely wrong about something, and arguing with the usual passion and conviction. Was NeXT so hungry that they misinterpreted the data in their favor, to desperately target a seemingly substantial market? Whatever it is, I can't help but be sympathetic to those guys - their workstation was years beyond their competitors and the programming frameworks were a small slice of heaven, for the 90's.

Qbert has come a long way. I met him back in the late 80's. The club I was deejaying at was having a battle of the DJ's contest and one of the DJs didn't show, so I had to fill in. It was my first time meeting him and I was blown away. He did that same thing with the whistle and the crowd went wild.

I think Arantxa has to be considered an elite in her era because she was the only one other then Graf and Seles to win the French Open three times. Arantxa was also the only woman to defeat both Graf and Seles in slam finals. You have to give Arantxa credit she wasn't as tall as Jennifer but she was much more mentally strong. Also Jennifer only won 14 WTA titles and Arantxa won 29 a huge difference.

Davenport is six foot three Arantxa is five foot six. Arantxa was mentally stronger then Davenport. Arantxa also won MORE SLAMS then Davenport. Davenport never used her size she is one dimensional all she does is hit the ball hard. Arantxa had more variety and used it. Arantxa also reached number one in doubles she won NUMEROUS women's doubles and mixed doubles grand slam titles as well. Davenport lost tons of finals as well and even more semifinals. Arantxa also leads Davenport head to head.

Arantxa didn't win big grand slam matches any more than Davenport. If anything, she lost a lot more big matches because she played in more finals and semis and lost almost all of them. Not sure where you think she's a big match player. She hit more slice forehands and lobs than anyone. She won with footspeed and grind. Fortunately for her, Monica Seles was taken out of the picture when she won 2 of her 4 slams in 94. Credit to her for beating Monica in 98 French Final.

I think Arantxa is clearly a superior player to both Davenport and Capriati. Davenport simply didn't win the big grand slam matches like Arantxa did. Davenport may have won more WTA titles but Arantxa has more slam tiles and she was more consistent in the slams.

So Izzy was disposable? You didn't include Izzy as a major member. Duff had very little song writing credits. Keep in mind Izzy had a huge hand in writing most of their songs. In regards to Dizzy, he's a good piano player, but i'd say it is piano and not Dizzy that's a big part of their Use Your Illusion sound.

Dont try to school me on GNR. I went to one of their concerts in Chicago and was at Get in the Ring tour in Tokyo. Although Dizzy Reed didnt play a major role in wrting, he did have a lot to do with the way the band sounded. If you dont know Dizzy is an accomplished keyboard/piano player your an idiot. Also Slash and Duff were major members, all others were disposable.
