i see what you mean, any drummer would have to consider themselves lucky to drum with john, paul and george. i think he is a good songwriter and singer. besides at least he's still writing songs, and songs about his friendships, it's not like he used the beatles to get rich, then disspear when they break up. he's a great drumming icon

Name a more accomplished drummer - you can't. Ringo is the best, though he was certainly lucky he got to work with 3 other guys who were pretty good themselves... In terms of singing, he has a very pleasant voice, but when you hear him sing a song that John, Paul or George have also sung, he doesn't even come close. That's just my honest opinion.

Even if the movie isn't 100% true....If it itroduced Buddy Holly to a new generation then it was worth making. If a person since has done their own research on Buddy to learn facts good for you!! I wouldn't go as far as saying he honored Buddy. He did entertain us though, and we got to hear Buddy's music performed by someone other then the man himself, that was kinda cool. There is only handful of Tribute Artist's in the world that truly re-create the illusion of Buddy on stage and truly honor Buddy and his music. John Muellar is one guy in the US that does an amazing job portraying Buddy, another guy from Canada is awesome to I think his name is Keith Martin.

Whether this movie is true to Buddy Holly's history or not really doesn't matter anymore now. The only way you could make it more true life is re-do the movie itself and create an entirely new prospective of it. But Gary Busey played a great Buddy Holly though and his singing was outstanding. I agree with you to some degree. Most acts, from Elvis to the Beatles to some newer acts, don't sound anything live like they do on record/CD. Most of the songs in this movie were "live" renditions, in which the band/actors recorded this raw giving it the live feel. I think for it's time the sound was pretty good, but the Holly story was way off. Off Broadway Holly Shows now a days have learned a lot from this movie was what to do to make things better.

What they should do is, make another film about the truth about Buddy's life and his career, get the facts straight. Busey screwed up the arrangements on the songs, mixed up the verses, this is the only bad thing I can say about what he did in the movie. He's just an actor reading a script, its not his fault they couldn't get the facts and truth. I know a couple Buddy Holly tribute Artists where I live that could do a great job portraying Buddy in a movie.

I thought Gary Busey did as good as a job as anybody else could have done. Can you think of anybody better to play the part? Buddy was known to be a little on the wild side and I thought Busey did a fine job capturing that aspect of Buddy. It wasn't all that bad so cool down all the hating. As a long term Holly fan, I remember when this film was released here in France. I didn't see it (bought by mistake the soundtrack, however), and I eventually managed to get the "Real Buddy Holly Story" video, hosted by Paul McCartney. This film extract doesn't make me regret my choice.

Brilliant! This is how Rock bands should sound!! Thin Lizzy! What a great Rock band. This is a great line up guitarwise. Gary Moore is just so powerfull and Gorham so chunky and melodic. Phil Lynott is just so charismatic. He's a great loss. Sound quality on this is great too. I wish I saw Lizzy live. In 1967, Cocaine blues came out on a record by Dave Van Ronk and I loved it. It was part of what was going on during the "summer of love". I bought a book entitled, "How to play the blues" by Stefan Grossman". That little book and the record that came with it helped me to figure out how to play Cocaine blues, although it was not included in the record.
