Oh, her sense of humor is indeed brilliant. David Bailey, her ex-husband said that she gets asked so much serious questions - "Whats the meaning of life?" - but she was actually a fun and not-so serious person. And regarding The Hunger - a lot of lesbians' sexual awakening was attributed to that. They just went, WOW. And I did too.

I plan on renting Les Voleurs soon - because Catherine happens to be one of my favourite actresses of all time (the lesbianism is just icing on the cake for me). She has tremendous range and a wicked sense of humor as well. She puts me in mind of Meryl Streep. In response to the "HUNGER", my views were coming from the eyes of a 12 year old lesbian desperately seeking anything on screen that remotely expressed what I thought lesbianism to be and with HUNGER at that time I felt I'd hit jackpot.

I found The Hunger to be stylish and fun, yet a bit contrived. The lesbian scene was very much male-fantasy ish, though it was certainly memorable. The lesbian aspect here is more tender, I agree, and to a large extent, maternal, which on the other hand, may lack the oomph ... I'm sure a lot of women viewers were expecting more intimate scenes...

Very Tender!! But the "Hunger" scenes with Susan Sarandon remains for me as one of Catherine Deneuve's most sensous display of what appears to be "un-faked" lesbian intimacy and true ecstacy or some damn fine acting by both actresses!!!

Indochine is great. As for Deneuve's much earlier works, I can't seem to appreciate that much, though some were undeniably great. There's something about her now that she lacked while she was young.
