Yes, the second movement (30 Ans) from the Grande Sonate Op. 33 is one of his more difficult and deeply spiritual pieces and easily surpasses the mains reunies in difficulty, I've uploaded it on my page. Alkanian and Isaac, you guys got my vote for some of the best piano videos on youtube!

but remember that virtuosity is not just about technique, as I said there are more factors, like the interpretation, you can have a perfect techinique but a robotic sound, I was just trying to say that you can't compare their way to play because you need to hear them
By: Bachlives2. on 20 Sep 08, 02:00:19
Liszt himself said Alkan had the finest technique he had ever seen
By: qwertyuiop10111. on 27 Jul 08, 15:42:24
However, this isn't Alkan's most difficult piece--check out the two etudes in Op76 before this, one for the left hand and one for the right, which I think are supposed to be considerably more difficult, and his Comme le Vent etude has be one of the fastest written. There is also the second movement of his Grande Sonate which in addition to the usual virtuosity includes a fugal section with eleven voices. Not to mention Liszt himself said Alkan had the most perfect technique he had ever seen.

Holy SHIT YOU GUYS ARE FAST AS HELL! AWESOME!
By: fisarmonicista. on 17 Jul 08, 03:35:59
I don't think so, mazzepa is much harder than this, I'm not saying that Alkan is not good, he was a genious, but you can't just compare virtuosity just by the speed, there are much more factors
By: bubblebran. on 15 Jul 08, 13:39:31
Very impressive.

Who's more virtuosic in your opinion, Liszt or Alkan? It seems like Alkan beats Liszt.
