Yeah, I think too much stock is put into making things complicated for the sake of "show". A great song will always stand on it's own and this fits into that category.

Astral Weeks is NOT overrated. That's one of the greatest albums ever easily. I'll agree with Jonis blues, sgt. peppers (they have at least 4 albums that are better), I can stand Pink Floyd, u2, Queen is decent, led zep is dcent, Clapton gets entirely too much credit considering he's an average-decent SONGWRITER at best and DS never did anything for me.
By: siarung. on 19 Nov 08, 18:06:39
yeah but i was referring to solo singer/songwriters. Of course it goes without saying lennon/macca,the kinks bros, the glimmer twins etc also came up with the goods (you can keep van the man tho, astral weeks is one of THE most overrated album ever ,well along with jonis blue, loves forever changes, fabs sgt pep and of course anything by pinkfloyd, u2,queen,led zep 4,clapton,dire str....well you get the picture)

I think the genius of the man and really his music is that he can make simplicity so magnificent. Neil Young to me is the greatest songwriter of all time and if anything...if you have any sense you would have to put him top 10 at the least. My point though is that this song really isn't difficult to play, it's the fact he can make such a simple song musically with his harmonica, lyrics, and voice so magical. THAT is the genius of Neil Young.
