because they found out that they had swithced places. in the musical it's "bokowskij" who dies in the war. i saw the european tour in sundsvall, it was awesome, fantastic show

Well, I havent even seen this movie, or the musical, so this is only a guess, but... I did some reading, and in the original story, it was Claude who died, not Berger, so it's probably just a HUGE plothole, and they used his name on the grave to make it obvious to the audience what had happened. Needless to say, the original authors of the play were rather pissed at the change, lol

why did the army wrote "berger" on the grave instead of "bokowski" ? he took his place so i also took his name ? :s no ? comment l'armée a t-elle pu savoir que c'etait "berger" qu'il fallait mettre sur la tombe et pas "bukowski" , vu que berger se faisait appeler bokuswki a la guerre ... il avait prit son nom donc l'armée ne pouvait pas savoir son veritable nom (berger). D'autant plus qu'il avait brulé ses papiers au debut ..
