darkmistress all ya gotta do is listen to the strumming. Use your ears instead of looking at a tab saying down up down down up. As long as your in time you can make up your own pattern. Dont have to strum exactly like the way he does. But if you have trouble doing that go to a music store and get the music for it. It will tell you exactly how to strum. But you should really use your ears it will help im the future

Can't disagree one bit. As a teen who came up wearing his dirty jeans, baha (spelling?), and ripped-collar t-shirt, I definitely remember that the music was more about the era. But now that I'm pushing 30, I think that the actual music can stand on its own and just be called "ROCK!" .. It has definitely stood the test of time. I can wear my business suit now and crank up some STP or SG and it still resonates.

right...but in retrospect, grunge was more of a feeling than a sound. It was the age, categories aside. It was wearing flannel, Docs, and just rocking out. The music is special for a reason...not the style but because we were so lucky to have so many great - and I mean GREAT - bands at one time. The music from that era will be relavant for a long, long time.

someone answer me this: timmy c plays the same bass for shadow on the sun, cochise and show me how to live in this concert. all three songs are in different tunings. shadow on the sun is in drop b, so we know the bass is strung BEAD instead on EADG. in cochise, a song that is in standard tuning, all timmy c has to do is shift his playing up a string. how does he play show me how to live, which is in drop d? does he have one of those hipshot d-tuner things on the 3rd string to make it BDAD?

chris doesnt suck live and he has an amzing voice. though now it isnt the same anymore like it used to be from all the cigarettes and the way he completely gives his voice in the studio. I heard he even got surgery because really the people who sing in that kind of technique (steve tyler, robert plant, axl rose, brian johnson, chris cornell) really strain their vocal chords. steve tyler and robert plant had to get surgery also so really at the end of the day have to put that in perspective

Well after more than two decades in the music industry you can't expect him to sing like an angel. Add to that smoking, throat problems, ageing etc. Plus this song isn't exactly easy to sing. Anyway, he doesn't even sound like this anymore. Now he sings amazingly.

I think that Chris' voice reached its pinnacle (thus far) with Carry On. this was not fully explored in the album but was evident for anyone who saw him live. Neither does this album expose Chris' voice to a great extent, but I'll be interested to see how the songs change for the live format. And I don't mean live in the Fashion Awards sense or whatever that was.

Man I'm as big a die-hard fan of Cornell as anyone who appreciates true music and to hear supposed "fans" of Soundgarden knockin' him like this is garbage, in my opinion. Even if you don't agree with the genre that this new album falls in, if you hear him live, his voice has reached a new maturity. He did something different, the beauty of his musicianship is that his next album is likely to be entirely different from this so I think people need to simmer...

I was into music since '87 but was too young to appreciate or see GNR in concert although I became a fan right away.
