well, it was quite innovative at the time it was made. Bands didn't usually use seperatly recorded sounds as rythms, and neither did they use 7/4 beat, or switch so rapidly into 4/4 for the guitar solo. The guitar solo is pretty awesome as well. And it's a good mix of rapid and calm music. The text is meaningful as well, something the 68-ers liked, and progressive music was "in" at the time. Hope that answered your question ;)

That really weird since The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, PF's Debut album was recorded at the same time as Sgt. Peppers Lonely Heart Club Band (I think that's right, I'm not sure). And the fact that The Beatles were formed in the late 50's and Pink Floyd in the late 60's. Get your shit straight.

It's not so much U2 style as it is '80s, early '90s style. Also, alot of U2 sounds somewhat Floyd-style. Floyd can play however they bruddy want. Without them, The Beatles, The Kinks and other bands, bands like U2 wouldn't exist.

Richard did a lot to bridge the Syd gap and keep the band going while Roger and David worked things out. I always thought a Richard led Floyd could have been very good. I think this legitimized by the fact he is noticeably absent (missed) from Roger's solo work and indispensible to Dave's. As well as his contributions to Momentary Lapse and especially Division Bell. RIP rock star. You helped make music that meant so very much to my life. Thank You

There's a weird coincidence with Floyd and Syd - when they were recording "Shine on you crazy diamond" - a song about Syd - he turned up at the studio at that exact moment, having put on weight and shaved off his hair and eyebrows. wow, i really liked this video, until i realized it was Gilmour in it and not Syd. i am not even sure if this film footage was taken as a video for 'See Emily Play'. could be anything. i shouldn't sound too negative. it's great footage. just disappointing it's not Syd in there.
