I think it's pretty well documented in Enterprise that T'Pol is a low ranking "common jane" member of society who struggles with logic. She's a very emotional Vulcan even before she damaged her ability to control emotions - her mother denotes this several times. Furthermore, it has been alluded to time and time again that Vulcan's are empathic/telepathic and so emo as a race that they go nuts without total control, logic is what saves them from being far more out of control than humans.
