both MAC and LC are at top of their games when it comes to brushes - its just marketed to 2 different kind of ART. LC has been around much longer than MAC and its quite reputable in the ART world. Both last a long time with proper care. There are certain brushes that is designed for makeup, so you wont find LC brushes like those. Other wise, price is the only difference.

I want to thank you Koren. This video saved me tons of money. I brought 5 brushes today and spent the same amount to money that I spent on a Japonesqe(mispelled??) brush at Ulta. I love the Loew Cornell brushes that I purchased. I won't be purchasing anymore expensive brushes.

I'm not sure if you said it or not but do the MAC brushes actually work better than the loew-cornell brushes or are they the same in the quality work they do. Also which ones last longer?

Thanks so much for this video Koren, it was very informative and so helpful! I was wondering if there were certain "rules" when it comes to wearing different finishes with different eye looks. For example, if I had a smokey eye would a neutral matte lipstick look better than a lustre? Do you know if there are any rules (kind of like to play down the lips when the eyes are dramatic) to mixing finishes with neutral, dramatic, smokey, natural, ect. eye looks?

the hairs are shaven off the animal, much like wool from sheeps. So the animals are not harmed at all to harvest brush bristles. There are syntho brushes that works the same as naturals. Check out Crown Brushes or Coastal Scents and view their syntho lines.

224 is just a great blender brush, hard to apply makeup with it, so you use it as a secondary brush to blend after the color has been applied by another brush. 217 is both great in applying and blending.

How come no one ever seems to talk about the Urban Decay brushes? I have lots of MAC brushes as well as all the UD ones, and the UD brushes blow MAC out of the water! They are all well-made, good combination of density and softness, great for both cream and powder, and very versatile!

Deep Cleaning Brushes

I'm glad that you did this viedo because at the MAC counter no one actually tells you that you will need to actually wet your MAC brushes to clean them. I was only using the MAC brush cleanser and I ended up with a nasty eye infection and my eye doctor ended up telling me about using the baby shampoo to actually clean them once a week. If you only use brush cleanser, you can look in the middle of your brushes and see lots of makeup caked up in there that the brush cleanser did not remove.

Koren, my dog got my kabuki brush (tear, tear!) He didn't do much damage, except some of the bristles are cut (bitten) in half-ish, and some of the bristles are falling out. No I wash mine all the time as well. Just make sure you use gentle shampoo with conditioner, if you dont have a brush cleanser. The hair fibers will get brittle and start breaking if theyre not conditioned.

ugh i didn't clean my brushes EVER. and then i actually did take one to my school and looked at it through the micro scope and just yeah...ladies, clean them often and well!! i have to clean mine every day now. i'm so freaked by the things i saw that its not an option for me to skip a day. but, i never have used a spot cleaner. i always deep clean mine with just shampoo and water and like lather it in my hand then do it again and rinse it. will that hurt my brushes at all?

tehse brushes are actually pretty good alternatives -- be careful buying brushes from eBay unless you trust the seller, and YES so many fakes there, not just brushes, makeup too. If you are ready to spend money on MAC brand, go for it - if you want something to start with until you're ready, then try these ones out.

it says on the box when it expires. mmost liquids u have to go by the box expiration date however powders most people keep way way longer and they are usually fine for years. he is a makeup artist so i am sure he uses it up faster than the average consumer

Thanks, Koren! I also wanted to let people know that I've used an ice pick to do the mixing, and it works quite well (and the large handle makes it easy on the hands). I found that easier than using a bobby pin.
