why did I think Toots Thielemans was a guitar player?
By: THB79. on 29 Nov 08, 19:53:40
No way, Jose. This is improvisation at it's best. So you think the song doesn't make sense? Exactly. That's why it does. Hope you can dig that.
By: masticordio. on 26 Nov 08, 00:15:14
try to hear between lines... then you'll see the genius of this guys... there is no rehearsal that sounds like this... thats for sure.
By: NixonMcvicar. on 25 Nov 08, 01:13:02
Why??
By: kingxofxsuede. on 22 Nov 08, 01:35:03
What they're doing is trading off, they're playing off each other, which is what makes it amzing. Listen and you'll hear the slight similarities(sp?) between their phrases. Thats what makes it beutiful. They play off each other so well.
By: YukonRoxx. on 20 Nov 08, 05:22:50
I agree with you. It's like 2 people playing 2 different songs. Sounds like rehearsals when everyone is tuning up. I know I'll get thumbs down for this. Jaco is a legend and so is "Toots" but I like when people play either a solo or a song but not two different ones at the same time

My God!!!! Absolute artistry!!!!!!!!!!!

reminds me of the movie the fisher king
By: foolsbetrippin. on 04 Nov 08, 03:22:55
its like cigarettes, at some point after the inaugural progressions get all tired and boring you develop an appreciation.
By: chahahc. on 24 Oct 08, 23:16:41
It's very dissonant in many parts. Hence the term "Punk Jazz". =P. I enjoy it. I've listened to so many cut n' dry chord progressions in so many songs that when something like this comes along it feels fresh. Also because its Jaco and Toots, go together like vanilla ice cream and root beer.
By: cyberdude61. on 17 Oct 08, 00:53:12
Toots was jaco's best friend.

Comes together nice on some parts. Put a smile on my face
By: mazrocon. on 30 Sep 08, 07:05:10
I'm sorry... I seem to get mixed up with blues and jazz... I don't know... I kind of like saxophones... I can kind of see why people like this... though I don't like it myself... but okay you can "thumbs down" me, that doesn't mean i'm wrong it just means it's my opinion...
By: aiteoband. on 26 Sep 08, 16:20:50
then you don't like jazz like you say you do. that is all.
By: jsm355. on 10 Sep 08, 03:41:19
What a Conversation !! WOW !!!
By: bailzzzzzz. on 04 Sep 08, 01:24:15
the greatest thing to see is how much they're enjoying themselves and really playing off of each other. its great to see jaco look so genuinly happy here, thats what i think music should be all about.
By: ekim53. on 03 Sep 08, 13:30:56
2 guys goofing off on a bass guitar and a harmonica? Yes, isn't that great, that's really is a pretty good description...two very talented guys goofing off...I love it!
By: NixonMcvicar. on 26 Aug 08, 01:47:17
what a great post, emmadet !
By: NixonMcvicar. on 26 Aug 08, 01:43:45
round about 7:12 then...
By: NixonMcvicar. on 26 Aug 08, 01:42:40
It's all about whether the conversation needs to happen I guess...
By: EddieG1888. on 20 Aug 08, 22:31:37
Its so touching how much Jaco and Toots obviously think of each other.
By: mazrocon. on 19 Aug 08, 19:17:37
Well I like jazz and all but this I don't get at all. If you want to make a conversation then just talk! I love all kinds of music but this just seems like 2 guys goofing off on a bass guitar and a harmonica and just decided why not record it?
By: emmadet. on 18 Aug 08, 18:22:55
no, it's a valid question. Never mind the thumbs down all those jazz professors are giving you. There's a hidden form and a maybe not quite evident beat going on underneath, and that steady ongoing pulse turns the pauses into "music". You know what I mean.
