This album to me and particularly this tune here gives me a deep and some what dark vibe but over all its captivating. What a show it must have been when he toured with the Greatful Dead with this album as his set.

It's hard to help but wonder what's going through Miles' mind while he's playing that trumpet..judgeing by his album covers..something really crazy and/or psychedelic
By: ItinerateWolfMop. on 24 Oct 08, 07:51:22
Sun Ra would have to be the most counter-intuitive example of a jazz musician and composer who did NOT have anything to do with alcohol or drugs. He was just completely out of his mind.

Psychedelic Jazz in the supreme!!!! Music breaking boundries. Listen, learn and enjoy
By: nlmihal. on 11 Oct 08, 04:50:44
Miles had more drug issues in the 1950s with heroin and then later in the mid 70s which led to his decision to not play or do anything for six years. I guess swedpirates doesn't know the history of jazz b/c just about every major jazz figure of the 20th century has had a close relationship with alcohol and drugs.

yes there is ... "beauty"

Bitches Brew, though a jazz masterpiece, has never been an easy listen for me. Technically, it's unreal and was a breakthrough to a whole new plane for the genre. Me, I prefer Kind of Blue. This record makes me want to pull all of the plates out of the cabinet and smash them! Is there a word for organized chaos?
By: Jedimaster20. on 08 Oct 08, 01:37:46
wow very nice thaat it won the grammy but it sounded weird, i liked his other songs like milestones
By: jeffersonhomemusic. on 04 Oct 08, 21:23:09
Oh, and by the way, sp, Bitches Brew won a Grammy for best jazz performance by a group or ensemble or SOLOIST with a group in 1970.
By: jeffersonhomemusic. on 04 Oct 08, 21:16:57
With all due respect, Miles Davis IS jazz. Whether he's high or not, here is not the is issue. Nobody's perfect. Let's judge him on his legacy alone. Singlehandedly, he was at the forefront of every major jazz genre of the last 50 years, because he STARTED cool jazz in the 50s, modal jazz in the 60s and jazz rock fusion in the 70s. The first jazz musician with rock star status. Wynton Marsalis patterned his early albums AFTER Davis's 60s albums.

the aformentioned "players" have written nothing....nor come up with any musical concepts that even touch miles.....they play trumpet------ they copy miles.....the end you are high
By: baantalingngam. on 04 Oct 08, 15:25:29
You're the one that's retarded, swedishpirates. Technically, some of Miles' best playing was from about 1968-1971. I don't think that Miles was high all the time when he performed during this period, but would you discount any of Charlie Parker's recordings because he may may have been high while making them? Or any of Lee Morgan's, for that matter?
By: corp369. on 04 Oct 08, 06:36:19
Flying Foo Balls I heard that he raised his head and trumpet because as you blow on a trumpet fluid builds up and it equalled out that fluid. Miles could hear every note and distortion. You will see him also go to the side and empty out that fluid through the release valve. Miles was the man. Some people dont like him ((Stanley Crouch) but that was part of his style. Coolest muthafucka there was. Pro or con, he had style, his own.
By: drumbum1010. on 03 Oct 08, 23:33:20
your opinion is invalid. . .
By: swedishpirates. on 03 Oct 08, 19:11:38
this is retarded... he was so high... how can you guys say this is genius?... go listen to some lee morgan.. wynton... any other miles davis besides this retarded album
