This recording is made on wednesday april 2 1980 in The Doelen concerthall in Rotterdam the Netherlands. It was recorded by Veronica television and broadcasted on Dutch TV at the end of april that year. I have a copy of the mastertape with the whole concert but unfortunatly its a bad copy.The broadcasted version copy is fair but only 31 minutes long. There is no doubt in my mind that it will return, I mean look at Doctor Who, if that show can come back with sheer brilliance after a 16yrs absence, then anything is possible, and look how crappy that show got nearing the end of its original run. If and when they do bring Grange Hill back they need to put more quallity into it, better acting, better storys, and man do they need to fix up the crapy back ground music that Grange Hill has suffered in recent years. Thank You very much for your comment. I very much agree with you, the series had changed alot. When i watched in the late 70s and 80s it was like watching a real school and your mates. In the 90s it just became another drama programme like any other and seemed not real. I hope in the future they can bring it back and capture its magic and appeal again as this was such an important programme when i was growing up,

many moons ago (easter 1988 ?) I had the pleasure of meeting him at the bracklesham bay holiday park. I worked there as the dj and kids entertainer. He performed a few numbers along with the dallas boys, vernon girls and a couple of other acts that I cannot remember now, brilliant night it was. He was a funny bloke, I was a rather naive 20 year old back then, I asked him "so what happened with you and tony meehan?" he looked at me with a sly grin and replied " divorced son, we got divorced"

I had a poster of Jet stuck inside my school desk at Camborne Grammar School, aged about 14 (1965?). At the age of 20/21 I was working in Jersey and a friend told me that Jet Harris was a junkie and playing in some seedy bar in St. Helier. I went there and felt very sad. Little did I know that 30yrs later I would have a daughter with a serious drug problem. Watching recent footage of Jet has given me hope that she will beat her addiction Things are looking up,just hope I live to see her clean!

Yes, I bought the Jet Harris jumper just like Bob Geldof (see his autobiography, "Is That It?"), I even did my hair the same way as him - but I could never play the bass that brilliantly.

My first look at Marty Wilde and I must say what a pleasant surprise. We should have heard more from him over the years. And still sounding so convincing in this recent performance. Only song known to me in New Zealand was "Abergavenny" - always rated the song and also the town in Wales that I later visited! There is room for Marty and Cliff with this song Move It. Not that Hank Marvin played on Cliff's original 1958 single version as he wasn't in the Drifters at the time.(He did play a great version on Cliff's Feb 1959 LP "Cliff").Marty sounds good as ever but I think suffered by being around at the same time as Cliff. His band The Wildcats are entwined in the Cliff/Shadows story-former Wildcats Brian Locking & Brian Bennett being more known for being Shadows. Why did Hank forgo his classic sound for this track-it makes him sound like any other guitarist.

I think you're right. But there is one other reason. It hurts to realise how many years have gone by since its first showing. I'm now older than my parents were at the time. Thats kind of hard to swallow.

tv wasn't afraid of sterotypes and just like now no one cares if they show up only the greedy laywers. i loved this show and if shane does do it it'll ruin it, just like that div in st trinians, no one can pull off a replacement to arthur cole, but i may be biased as we share a family name not that i'm related to him, i wish. oh yeah and my grandads name was arthur cole too but not the same guy but how freaky, lol

I remember watching minder on thursday nights, I think it would have been on at 8 or 9pm. It couldn't have been on any later than that because I was still at school and I had a paper-round job in the morning, lol. And you're right, of course... they were fond memories. Riddle me this! I love the show. Minder is now out on DVD and I can buy it tomorrow if I wanted to. but for some reason that I can't explain, I don't want to. Why do you think that is...?

when i was a kid i remember been able to watch this on a wednesday night must have been about same time only watched sweeney towards the end of its run in 1978(FOND MEMORIES) since seen them all many times over .favourite bit is were the sweeney son and we haven't had any dinner CLASSIC

Yeah... "To each, his own" but minder is still tops for me. Funny thing is, I never saw it in 1979 and thats when it started. Never heard of minder until the autumn of 1980. What about you??
