I think you're referring to one of his 'stax'. Basically it's a crash or splash and a small china stacked on top of each other. He had signature ones for sale through Sabian last I heard, or you can make one yourself.

the fact that all you've had to say about Mike's playing is that it's bad tells me you don't have the proper knowledge and experience to know what good or bad are. Those two are also, in fact, subjective evaluations. Therefore mere opinions, moreover opinions of an uninformed. I've been playing drums for 12 years and do I think Mike Portnoy is the fastest or most technically skilled drummer? Probably not, but has his drumming influenced me more then any others?
