This was the day that started it all for The Price is Right. The essence of the game may have stayed from the 50's and 60's but alot of things are different. Bob seems to be doing a good job with what he is handed because he had big shoes to fill from Bill Cullen. COnnie set the gold standerd for Price is Right contestants with her excitement and smarts. The podium may be useless but there were kinks that were enventually resolved. This segment started it all I must say.

9/4/72 - nearly 10 years before my time :) my folks were barely 14 & 16 any idea when the announcer 1st said "come on down"! instead of "stand up"?

Oh yeah...after 35 years, surely the audience reaction would be different. Back in the day, this was brand new, so no one is going to be overly excited. Now you need a hose to calm them down.

Bob was a busy guy. The first two seasons of the New Price is Right were the last two seasons of Truth or Consequences.

Most people may forget TPIR was hosted by Bill Cullen from 1956-1965. When it came back in 1972 it was The New Price Is Right but after the first season the "New" was dropped. My how times have changed from the look of the studio, to fashion, hairstyles and how people act in the audience nowadays too.
