from a companies point of view here is the problem with "pump jack riders". Some idiot doing this breaks his neck, hires a scumbag lawyer and then sues the oil company for $10 million. The lawyer can find many frivolous reasons for suing.

I have seen people get there arms mostly ripped off doing less dangerous activities than that. Think of a chicken getting its wing ripped off, trust me you don't want that pain! Anything could have happened there. Never mind the sour gas! I am sure your familiar with the oil fields, maybe too familiar.
