Islam has been a part of Bosniak culture for a long time, and we defined ourselves with it. During the last war, Serbs and Croats obviously tried to split up Bosnia and take it for themselves. A muslim is somebody who follows the quran. I know that there shouldnt be like a lite version of muslim and a hardcore version, but there simply is. The reason is because Bosnian muslims dont live in an all-islamic enviroment, like the arab countries do. On top of that, we've had communism for 40 years. I dont know how good you are in maths kid, but if 6 million leave Islam each year you would require atleast double if not triple that figure to maintain a good growth in converts. From what Ive seen most Muslims would say 50 to 100 thousand people convert to Islam each year, that means Islam is in the red by -5900000~ =)

As I said, Islam was spreading fast and far, and during that time there were 7 dialects of Arabic in the time of the Prophet (saw), and the people that spoke in those dialects wrote the quran in thier dialect. When the commission to preserve the quran in the dialect of the Prophet(saw) which is the Quraishi dialect was choosen to be the best form for the preservation.
